09 Audi A4, S4, A5, S5 Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_audiMy Take: I’m seeing the same exact lease rates (as March) for April on the A4/A5/S4/S5. If you aren’t ready to pull the trigger on any of these cars this month, you may want to wait to see what May brings. The A5 is a bit cheaper than past months, but it could use a little bit more encouragement. Remember, no one has a crystal ball (I know I don’t) so I can’t predict whether things will improve of any of the following cars. One thing is for certain, residuals only go down, so if you see a car that already has a really low money factor, you should jump on it. You can only lower the money factor so much before monthly payments start going back up due to the loss in residual value.

  1. G…any idea what the payment on a tiptronic S5 should be?

Found a dealer that has what I want with a vehicle at $59,940 sticker. Selling price $56,700. 36 month term 12k miles/year with 0 down at signing.

Oh I live in TX so yah I will get screwed because of the entire tax assession on the term. My credit is tier 1 or tier 1+ with 730+ fico.

Please let me know what I should expect for a rough payment amount.

    thanks for your help

  2. Taking an educated guess here because I have no idea what your tax rate is and how much your dealer charges you for dealer doc fees. It’s going be well over $1000 that’s for sure. $925 per month if you pay inceptions and taxes upfront. Now taxes would be around $3700 if your tax rate is 6.5% (guessing here). That would bump your payment to $1040 (since you are financing the taxes, which is a HORRIBLE idea at .00330 money factor since its like 7.9% APR) Then add another $2000 for inception fees (1st month, dmv, bank fee, dealer fee, tire tax) and you are looking at about $1100 bucks a month or so. Expensive. 😛

  3. tax is 6.25 so what you calculated was pretty much accurate using those numbers. No way am i going to spend that. I rather finance it over 84 months and sell it after 3 years. Ill hold strong and be at breakeven or some negative equity, if any.

Or do a balloon payment “lease” which is like a lease but a finance deal altogether structured like a typical lease. Either way this is not the car to lease regardless even if you can get it or not, which im almsot able to do in my case.

    thanks

  4. You can have a M5 for about that price tag…or even a GTR. I think I’d rather have a GTR personally. That thing flies!

  5. I like the S5. ALOT. The car catches attention like no other car. Its pure eye candy. Its just a very special car to look at everytime you see one in the rearview mirror or one passing you by with it sculptous sensual body.

I cant convince myself to please me with any other car besides it. A GT-R, M5, M6, CLS are all incredible cars – performance-wise and design-wise…the S5 is the elite of elites in looks.

The looks of the car are just too possessive. I cant part with it but I dont want to pay $1200 a month! ARGH!

  6. It the interest rate that kills the deal.. Residuals are fine in the high 5’s. The interest rate is just too high. Then texas tax assessed 100% on the entire term of the lease also kills the payment. Makes me wish for a tax-free lease day on cars again!

  7. I hear ya, the S5 is a very gorgeous car, but like you, I couldn’t possibly justify it. If you guys got hit with just use tax, I think that would ease the pain some what. It is somewhat unfortunate that the money factor on the S5 hasn’t been very low for most of the year. Let us hope next month will be different.

  8. G let us know what the rates for May 2009 are for the S5.

They have held up the same for march and april but the interest rate/money factors have been horrible.

    thanks
