09 VW CC Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_vwMy Take: There is $1000 customer cash on the VW CCs this month if you finance through their financing arm, so be sure to factor that into your calculations. The lease rates look pretty decent to me, so I would definitely recommend taking this ride for a spin and see what kind of deal you can pull off. Now, regarding the “special financing”, there really isn’t anything special about it. The shorter terms have a lower APR while the higher terms pretty much screw you over at a 6.4% APR for 66 months. Couple of things to keep in mind, the CC leases best at 36-months, so be sure not to go under or beyond that. The 24-month lease is a bit low on residual, with only a 4% increase. You can increase your 36-month residual by 3% by opting for the 10k mile lease, so it is pretty clear VW is trying to discourage you from going with the 24-month lease. Another thing to watch out is that not all CCs are created equal. The sport trim has the highest residual value, which will yield the lowest monthly payment. Now the 48-month lease is the cheapest, but I would stay away from it unless you don’t mind the extra costs that come with being out of warranty and replacing tires. In most cases, stock tires should last until the 36th month of your lease if you do regular rotations and don’t drive aggressively. With 48-month terms, you are pretty much guaranteed to replace them by the time your lease matures, so don’t let the “lower” payment fool you!

UPDATE: the $1000 has been pulled. Bummer. I know.

  1. The easier way to figure it out is by looking at your 24-month residual and compare it to your 36-month and 48-month. As I pointed out, the 36-month residual, when limited to 10k miles per year is only 1% less than the 24-month/15k term. At 60% on the 36-month term (vs 61% on the 24-month lease), you are spreading 40% of the car’s depreciated value over 36-months instead of 39% over 24 month. This results in lower monthly payments. You will also be under warranty and your tires should not need to be replaced if you rotate them every oil change.

  2. Hey G,

I appreciate the information you supply us, but I’m having a problem. you quote :

    2009 Volkswagen CC 4dr Sport

    36-month | 15k miles | residual 57% | .00073 base money factor

but when I’ve called several dealers they quote me 50% and I called VW credit to ask about the $1,000 but they tell me they know nothing about it as well as the dealers I’ve spoken with. What gives? Can you give us a little clarification please. I’d really appreciate it I want to lease one of these babies . . . this month April 2009.

  3. Hey Ken,
Yeah I’m not seeing the $1000 rebate anymore. As for the residual value, I’ll have to check. VW rates in the past have been fairly consistent, so I’m a bit baffled at the huge discrepancies here. I’ll keep you posted.

  4. Okay, here’s what I found…and it doesn’t look good…(36-month terms)…

2009 CC Sport 15,000 miles per year .00073. and 50%.
    2009 CC VR6 Sport 15,000 miles per year .00041 and 42%.

I am going to need to amend this post. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Ken and sorry for the bad news…

  5. Possible to update the VW-CC MF & Res for May 09 deals?

    I’m seeing:

    2.0 Lux 36/12K .00052/47%
    2.0 Lux 36/15K .00052/45%
    2.0 Spt 36/12K .00122/50%
    2.0 Spt 36/15K .00122/48%

    Planning to offer:

    36/12K $366/Mo. on $29,945 0 down with $2000 on trade

  6. i just got quoted the following and want to know if it’s anything to bite on or should i let it go.

    2009 VW CC Sports
    MSRP: $ 29,500
    SP: $ 26,000
    RV: 0.48
    MF: 0.00122
    Down: $ 2,000
    Monlthly: $ 360.00 + TAX (CA 9.25%) = $ 390.00
    Miles: 15K for 36 months

  7. Got your email as well Chris.
Here’s what I am getting using your numbers:

$377 + tax = $412. That’s with your typical inception fee. Did you ask the dealer to break that down?

I know doc fee should be $45. CA Tire Tax is around $8.25. So that leaves the DMV registration, Bank Acquisition fee and your 1st month payment. Some of the $2k you put down is going towards cap reduction, probably a good $700 bucks or so.

Overall, sale price is great, about 12% off MSRP. 10% off is good, anything above that is icing. 😛

  8. Thanks G.

After talking to a few more dealers and trying to get quotes, no one could match it and it looks like the $ 2,000 down does NOT include any of the inception fees.

So, in other words i will be looking at $ 3,300 down (including all the inception fees, first month, and about $ 2,400 for cap reduction), plus $ 378.00 per month (including CA Tax).

Not sure how much of an attractive offer this looks anymore to me.

  9. oh really? no inception?? not a good deal then. I say walk away. There are better cars to be had at around the same price range.

  10. Do you think I could squeeze a C300 or C350 with this type of drive-off and monthly ($ 3,000 down (including inception fee) and $ 380.00 a month (including tax) with 36 months & 15K).

I’m starting to look at the TSX for now and will probably move the rest of this there.

  11. For the Mercs, not likely. Inceptions will probably run you nearly $2000 alone, making your cap reduction only about $1000, which translates to around $30 a month. A C350, at best, will probably be around $450-$500 over 48months depending on options. I think the TSX would be more realistic.

I think the 328i is also possibility. If you are in the LA area, give Dave over on the Dealerplace site a call. He can give you a quote. Just tell him I sent you.
