09 Audi A3, A4, A6, A8, S4, S5, S6, S8 Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_audiMy Take: Audi lease rates seem to be the same as last month, so instead of writing the same exact comment as last month, I’ll just direct you to last month’s post [July]. You can dig around for the A3, A6, A8 comments from July by going to the Audi Category on the left menu. Sorry for those still looking for the A5/S5s. Maybe the 2010 model’s lease rates will improve…maybe.

  1. @G
    I got this offer for A4 p+ w/navi
    38325 msrp
    32990 selling price,

    1750 down
    498+taxes 36months
    residual is 50%
how come the money factor doesn’t add up compare to here according form 0.00106
or is the dealer trying to pump up the mf that i didn’t know of?
    thank you for the help

    • @jacky. it is not unusual for a dealer to bump up the money factor. When banks publish their money factors for the dealers, that means the bank will not accept money factors below that unless there are security deposits. That means, the dealers can in fact bump up the money factor to make money. Of course, savvy lessees know this and can insist on the base money factor if they have excellent credit. Then, if the dealer really wants to sell you the car, then they will pretty much to do what you want, otherwise, you walk away. This scenario doesn’t always play out this way, but for the most part, that is how it should be done. Informed consumers typically get to dictate most of the terms. You have to know the boundaries of the deal in order to avoid rubbing the salesman/woman the wrong way. Anyway, back to your quote. How many miles per year? You got a 50% residual, so my guess is that you have the A4 Premium Plus Quattro at 10k miles per year. Or you got the A4 Premium Plus + AudiCare. Either way, the base MF should be .00106. I would recommend asking the dealer what MF he/she is using. Then ask why he’s not giving the base rate (assuming you have excellent credit, if you don’t, you probably won’t be getting it). Another thing is that some dealers will ask for a security deposit in order to get the base rate. Final thought, the sale price is not bad at all, you are looking at a 14% discount off MSRP, which I think its pretty awesome. However, I’m getting the feeling the dealer is bumping up fees and jacking up the money factor to recover some of that discount he’s giving. Time to sit him/her down and fine tune the numbers.

    • @jon. you might want to check with your dealer regarding the ’10. I don’t see any numbers for the ’10 A5s right now.

  2. Hey G,
Got those numbers on the 2010 A5’s and they’re looking pretty good.
On the premium coupe w/ auto it’s:

    36 month lease w/ 15k per year
    MF: .00196
    Residual: 56%

    24 month lease w/ 15k per year
    MF: .00196
    Residual: 63%

  3. Jon,
Are you positive? I just got quoted that money factor but a 53% residual.
I guess it could it be different for Premium Plus?
G, does the dealer have the ability to modify the residual or is it fixed by Audi?

    SD

    • @SD. residual values are fixed and dealers can’t change them. The money factor on the other hand is a whole different story. Jon’s quotes are based on a Premium. Premium Plus and Prestige carry a lower residual value. Just look at the A4 lease rates and you can get a general ideal on how AFS estimates their residual value.

  4. SD,
The numbers are actually different for the different body styles and the premium+ is considered a different body style. I’m 100% sure of my numbers though for the premium model.

  5. Guys,
do you have the MF and Residual for a 2010 A5 Prestige, I am being quoted something, but not sure if the dealer is playing me, thanks! 🙂

    • @angel, can you share with us what numbers you’re getting from your dealer so I can use that as reference? In my experience, it is much easier to tell a dealer to confirm numbers instead of asking them to give them to you. Dunno why, just seems to be easier for some reason.

  6. Acoording to my calculations (using the lease calculator) This is what I am getting, I posted this before, but this time calculating the Money Factor/Residual
    MSRP 47775
    Selling price 42900
    Sales Tax 7%
    Total=45,903
Negative equity on a trade 4,000
    Monthly Payment 860.00
Due at Signing 1500.00 (includes first payment, fees, etc…)
MF (based on the A4’s rates) 0.00196
Residual 46% (calculating using the lease calculator) ->way low

My problem is really trying to get rid of my car and get rid of that negative equity. I have been trying to sell it for about a month now, but I guess nobody wants hybrids anymore

    • @angel. the negative equity is still killing the deal in my opinion. $4k is really a lot of money to roll into a new lease. Remember that for every $1000 you roll in, that’s about $30 per month. Since you are rolling in $4k, that’s $120 more you pay per month than the avg person leasing the same car with the same terms. I don’t htink this is a matter of whether your deal is good or not, but rather, whether you are willing to take on your existing car’s debt. My calculations show $758 per month after taxes with inceptions due at signing.

  7. Ah, almost forgot, if the initial payment went to $3500, the monthly payment would go down to 790, I guess because it would cover part of the negative equity.

  8. Here’s the deal I helped a friend get:
2010 audi a5 2.0t with bluetooth and ipod adapter.
    MSRP of around 39,100
Got the car for 100 above dealer invoice
    1800 drive-off 599/month on a 24 month lease

    • oh wow, 24-mo lease. not too shabby jon. I don’t see many 24-mo leases anymore since they are generally not very attractive. I’m really surprised they are willing to do $100 over dealer invoice on a 2010. Pretty awesome.

  9. Well guys, sold my car this morning, went to the Audi dealership and finally pulled the trigger, they had to transport it from another dealership
    2010 A5 Prestige
Sports Package (19″, sports suspension, sport seats)
    MSRP 47,775.00
Final price 44,305.59 (Audi Care was thrown in)
Audi Loyalty discount (from my partner’s TT) -750

    Dealer Fees 599
    Sales Tax yadda yadda 1972.44
    Drive Off 2500
    Monthly Payment 710 (plus tax)

BTW, I literally took out my laptop and punch the numbers into the Lease Calculator, that helped negotiate the price a bit.

Not a great deal, but decent, I think I will really like this car.

    • @angel. congratulations on the new ride Angel!! Considering the jam you were in trying to unload your previous car, I think came away in one piece. Glad you got what you wanted. New we want to see your ride 🙂

  10. Yeah G I don’t know how we pulled it off but I know the manager of the dealership through a family friend and he realized I know my stuff when it comes to cars. The car wasn’t for me but instead a family member and he didn’t want to get stuck with it for more than 2 years b/c he figures at that point he’ll either buy it out or return it. I thought it was a pretty solid deal on a car that’s been on dealer lots less than 2 weeks. I had called circle audi in Long Beach and the internet manager laughed at me when I asked him to give me the car for invoice. Once again G thanks for the help of this website (even though I hooked you up with those A5 rates). 🙂

    • @jon. Wow, Cicle Audi did that? I guess the good people left that place. I got my 2003 A4 from them and got my cousin’s 2004 Passat from the too. I almost got a GTI from then last year, but changed my mind since it was too expensive. Too bad for them I guess. McKenna isn’t that much better price wise, but at lease the sales guy was more polity and honest. So , are you gonna send me some pics for the wall or what? And yes, thanks for hooking me up with the A5 numbers 🙂 sometimes I need help too. Haahaa. I’m glad you guys are there to help each other out too.

  11. @Jon
wow! great deal on the a5
p.s. can I rent you for the day to help me get a deal like that? lol
