2010 Audi A4, S4 Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_audiUpdate: Here is the complete list of all lease rates for the A4/S4 line up. I will get to your questions tomorrow, thanks for your patience. My Take: Here’s what I have found so far on the A4s this month. If you compare them with last month, you will notice that they are much improved. Of course, there is always the challenge of trying to get your Audi dealer to heavily discount the 2010 models, so you shouldn’t overlook any remaining 2009 models. On a side note, I’m having a very difficult time finding a true deal that’s worth posting on THE LIST this month. I’m just not seeing anything worth recommending right now.

    • @AudiGuy. The money factor on a 12k lease should be the same as the 15k leases, but your residual value should be 2% higher.

  1. I was quoted 53% and .2300 MF on a 15K 36 mo lease in the midwest…2010 A4 quattro Premium auto. Any thoughts on why the MF would be double here? Are they regional?

BTW, you’re providing a great service here. Much appreciated!!

    • It may be regional or the dealer is padding the MF. I think it’s the latter. I haven’t really seen “regional” a4 lease rates before. They have been pretty consistent across the country, for the most part. On the other hand, I have encountered Audi dealers padding the MF pretty often. I would recommend calling a couple more dealers and ask for the base rate.

    • @MWGuy. Have you tried crosschecking with another dealership? It isn’t unusual to have banks offer different MFs for different regions, however, for the past year or so (since I started tracking these things) I haven’t heard of Audi doing it regionally (Honda, Toyota and Acura have done it for sure, while BMW and MB has done with rebates, acquisition fees and dealer fees). Another think to take into consideration is the fact that dealers can pad the MF. I’ll going to give my Audi dealer a call some time tomorrow, so maybe he can clarify a few things for us.

  2. G – thanks for all the great info. I used the calculator to get a basic idea of how all the factors work and the potential for a great deal. My strategies, look on the net, call around, see what each dealer has on their lot, tell them that their car is your 2nd favorite color and make them an offer. Here’s the deal I made: (feedback appreciated)

2010 A4 Premium Plus with Navigation
    MSRP 40,850
    Gross Cap 38255
    upfront:
    Admin 295
    Acquisition 625
    Title and Reg 125
    First Month 589

    Residual at 12,000 miles – $22059

Payment is 554 in base pmt and 35 in tax
    Audi Care Included.

I’m psyched – pick it up tomorrow !

    • @new a4 for me boston. seems like an “okay” deal to me. You are essentially paying around $600+ over invoice, which probably isn’t the lowest I would personally shoot for. Of course, since the car is so new, you will probably need to wait for the prices to drop a bit. If you need car now, go for it, but don’t be surprised to see payments drop in the coming months.

  3. G,

I was quoted .00142 from a dealer in a nearby town. He explicitly stated that is what they are getting from Audi. Based on the rest of the conversation, I believe he’s telling the truth.

    • @mwguy. i updated the a4 mf. if you are getting a higher quote, it may be due to dealer markup. also, make sure your looking at the right trim.

  4. @MWGuy is the .00142 for a Premium Quattro? I got that exact same number on a Premium Quattro, but G’s numbers are for FWD (I believe)

  5. Thanks guys. Yeah, I was looking at the Premium Quattro. I think it was at .00095 before the update, but it’s possible I was looking at the wrong one. Either way, it’s pretty clear now that the .0023 I was quoted from the first dealer was inflated.

    Thanks!

  6. @G:

I’m checking out the new S4 and planning to build to order since I don’t need the car now. I’m looking to order around the December time frame and take delivery next spring. What cap cost should I shoot for in the negotiation? Am I stretching it if I try to get it at or below invoice? Is December typically a good month to shop around for a new car when dealer foot traffic is low (snow belt) and the dealers have to make their year end #s? Thanks!

    • @supercharger. In all honesty, I have not heard of someone getting below invoice on an made-to-order vehicle. Doesn’t mean it can be done, but I think Audi is pretty specific how much discount you can get if you ordered the car. From what I understand, dealers are more willing to discount those on the lot because they don’t want to sit on inventory (due to the holdback getting eaten away over time). Also, in general, end of the month is a good time buy a car, but when you order, that’s not really a sale since nothing is official until you take delivery.

  7. @G:

IIRC, M-B is the only German brand that has holdback. That’s why they can afford to sell the C-Class consistently at below invoice.

    • @supercharger. yeah i agree. I still not sure if below invoice on an order is possible though, since it seems you’re buying a car direct from the mfg and the dealer probably just gets a kickback on the order. Not 100% sure on that though. Maybe someone can shed some light into that.

  8. Offer for A4 2010 w/ Prem Plus + Nav

    39650MSRP
Final Cost 36870 + 500 for adv and port costs

    $1243 down + 1st mo, doc, reg, audi financial = $3000 down, $490/mo.

    Is this a good deal? MF = .00142, 51% residual @ 42 months.

    • $500 port costs? who does that nowadays? seriously, i’ve learned a lot of new fees these past few years. The lease rate you got its not bad, but its not great either. Overall, I think the price tag is still kind of high, a measly 5.7% off the MSRP. I’m sure you can do better.

  9. G,

I should’ve read this site before I negotiated my deal.

I got a 2010 S4 Premium Plus + B&O Sound System + Silk Napa. Put down inceptions including first months payment of $1700.

    42 Month Lease, 10k a year for $634 a month.

Did I get rooked? I’ll bring up the buyers agreement to confirm the exactly residuals.

    • Adrean, please check your contract and see if you can find the following info…

      MSRP
Sale Price (or gross cap cost)
      Residual
      Money factor
and see if you can find the fees as well.

At first glance, it doesn’t look all that horrible, but this is a 42 month lease, so your payments are being spread out over 6 more months than most traditional 36-month leases. This makes it seem like a cheaper monthly payment.

In any case, see if you can get me those numbers so I can do a quick number crunch.

  10. Since I don’t have all the numbers, I’m going to make some assumptions here.

    MSRP-49975
    Gross Cape-45975
    Res-48%
    MF-0.00099
    Sales Tax-7%
    Monthly-$634

If this is the case, it isn’t too bad at all. Residual is a bit low, but we are nearing the end of the 2010 model year, so that’s expected.

  11. *whew*

Thanks, I normally just take over people’s leases on lease trader– This is the first time I’ve got a lease on my own. I’d have a sour taste if I found out I got ripped off. I did look around and didn’t see any S4’s in that price range w/ only inceptions down.
