2010 Mercedes Benz C-Class, E-Class Lease Rates – March 2010

logo_benzMy Take: C-Class Money Factors have been slashed by about half and residuals remain steady. You are pretty much guaranteed a lower monthly payment compared to February at this point, so feel free to visit your local Benz dealer and inquire about the Cs. There isn’t any cash floating around for the Cs, but hitting invoice or below shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. Lets take this scenerio for an instance. MSRP 37035, Invoice 34504, Sale price is 33763 (which is invoice minus 2% holdback, leaving 1% for the dealer). Monthly payments would be $383 + tax with inception fees due at signing (roughly estimated to be about $2000). This is for a 36mo/12k mile per year term. Compared to last month, you are saving about $50 per month. Not too shabby.

As for the E-Class. It remains relatively unchanged, with the exception of the coupes. I don’t expect the E-Class to improve any time during it’s first year run. If you want one of these, you still have to pay a premium.

  1. Hey G,

Just got this deal for my brother.

2010 MB C-Class Luxury with Premium 1 Package, 4Matic and Ipod interface.

    MSRP: $41,570
    Invoice: $39,322
    Sale Price: $38,300

    Residual: 59% for 36 month (12k/yr) MF: 0.00056
$1000 down plus fee, due at signing: $2,992 (acq fee: $975, doc fee: $250, etc)

    Monthly Payment: $413.79

    • Why the $1k down? Other than that, I think it’s pretty solid. MBZ are notorious for high inception fees, so there isn’t much you can do about that. But the dealer shared a pretty huge chunk of that holdback to make this happen so I say go for it.

    • good question. if it’s not with the $1000 down, then it’s a great deal. If it is…well, no as good. That would mean the dealer isn’t tapping into the holdback, which they should (at least a little). But this all depends on how “old” the car is.

  2. That price is before the $1k down…overall I dont think we could have done much better.
Thanks G, for your info and time.

  3. G – I’m looking to lease (36 mo) a new e350 coupe. High 700’s credit. Assuming Premium Package 1, maybe Premium Package 2, what do you think I should be shooting for as a monthly with as little down as possile? Appreciate your feedback.

    • @brian. lets assume Premium Package 2 with a MSRP of $55,275 and sale price of invoice or $51,467. 36m/12k per year term (non-metallic paint)…$794 per month + tax with like $2500 due at signing (or so, give or take a few hundred bucks). If you opt for the Premium 1 packaged, you should save a little over $30 per month. If your dealer decides to tap into the holdback, you should be able to get one of these in the high $700 to low $800 per month instead (after taxes). With that said, I don’t think its a smart financial move since the interest paid is about 1/3 of the actual payment. Quite insane if you ask me. But I’m not your accountant or financial planner, so you be the judge. 🙂

  4. So correct me if I’m wrong here, but it looks like what your saying is that it doesn’t make sense to lease since the interest rate/MF is so high? I’ve been shooting around a couple ideas, like leasing it in Detroit or New Orleans and having them ship it out to SoCal. I’ve also heard car brokers may be able to arrange ‘the best’ deals? Thoughts on the above…with respect to monthly payment/interest rates?

    • @brian. yes. I think the interest rate is a bit high, making this a more expensive lease than it has to be. Brokers aren’t a bad idea, but keep an eye out on who the lender is and what the fees are going to be (specially if they are trucking it from out of the state). Just remember that they are middlemen, and they have to make money somehow, so “the best” deal may not necessarily mean it’s the cheapest.

  5. You can get a good deal on the E 350 if you qualify for loyalty and fleet discounts (4k total). Just closed on:
E350 Premium 1 with wood wheel. 57,250 msrp.
    12k miles 39 months
585 per month with taxes. A little under 4k down. .00245 money factor- lower than published.

  6. Frank can you give us the details? Did you get the car for a sale price with the fleet and loyalty taken off the sale price? Than the 4k down.

  7. Danny,
It was around invoice price 53k, 58% residual. Subtract 4k for the fleet and loyalty off the invoice px- 4k paid at signing about 2500 going to reduction…didn’t mind paying a little cap cost reduction to get to the monthly payment I wanted. By the way…Love the car. P1 is a must…if you can get those discounts it’s a fair deal. Without them…not so much.

  8. I think i am getting a good deal. But i thought id throw it out here to see what other say.

    MSRP:$59,075

Sale Price: $50,639, with 1000 fleet discount, and $4000 total out of pocket

Payment is $665.00 per month with Michigan Tax 6%
    Term: 39 months
    Miles: 10,000 per month

    Money Factor: 0.00259
    Residual: 59

  9. Frank how did you get that money factor? Did you buy the rate down at all. Is your car a 4-Matic?

  10. Actually, not sure. That’s the stated rate quoted when I asked. I didn’t probe further while negotiating because I was happy with the deal. It is a 4matic. The dealer was having an event and said the got my price because of a referral program they had going on…tend to think this was dealer BS but again I didn’t pursue as I was content with the deal.

  11. I got my e-class. Here are the particulars of my deal.

    MSRP:$59,075

Sale Price: $50,639, with fleet discount, and $3500 total out of pocket. This includes $266 for a new plate, since my plate was up for renewal.

Payment is $674.00 per month with Michigan Tax 6%
    Term: 39 months
    Miles: 10,000 per month

    Money Factor: 0.00259
    Residual: 59
