2010 Volkswagen Lease Rates – May 2010

logo_vwMy Take: Numbers looks pretty much the same as last month. I expect these numbers to remain the same between now and beginning of June. Next month’s numbers will probably see another drop in residual, but my guess is VW will throw more cash at the leases or drop the MF on most models. Not sure what VW will do with the CC. The residuals are down right nasty, but they keep throwing money at it so the lease looks great still. Remember that if your existing lease is about to expire, you might want to weigh the pros and cons of pulling off a deal early (t0 take advantage of any incentives that may disappear later). Sometimes, it might make financial sense to do that.

  1. From the “My take” notes, are you essentially saying if the cash incentive offered exceeds the amount of payments remaining on the existing lease, it might make sense to pull the trigger on a new lease early? Just about 3 months remaining on my lease.

    • Yes, but you should also consider other factors and fees you may have to pay, such as disposition fees, possible overage and wear-and-tear. If the cash offer is substantial it may be a good idea, but there is some risk involved though. Should you pull the trigger too early and the rebate is still available next month, you’ll be taking on an extra payment plus 1 month of insurance coverage. But the upside is that you still retain use of your existing lease, so you don’t have to put miles on the new car until the old one’s lease expires. In the case of my wife’s TSX, she continued driving the car until we returned it earlier this month. This allowed her to save some miles and average less than her allowed monthly mileage. Those extra miles should come in handy for road trips down the road.

  2. Any chance of finding MF/residual for 2010 Jetta SportWagen SE and TDI ! 12k miles and 15k miles (26 month lease)?

    THANKS!
