2011 BMW Lease Rates – October 2010

logo_bmwUPDATE: Looks like there are some changes to October numbers after all. There have been some drops (and one increase) on the 1-series. The 3-series and M3s get a nice drop in money factor on select models. The X5 gets a 0.00010 bump in money factor and most other models remain the same. Things just got sweeter in BMW land!

My Take: As expected, BMW numbers remained the same as last month. If you were looking for a BMW and couldn’t pull the trigger last month, you get another month to make it happen. This is an excellent month for the 3-series, so if you like the numbers, I would recommend getting some quotes sooner than later because I expect numbers to change come November.

  1. Hey G

    Long time no see 🙂
I had one question. Is the auto tranny credit still available for 2011 328 coupe? I am trying to broker a deal for a friend.

    Thanks!

    E.O

    • Hey E.O, good to see you back! I don’t see the 328 coupe has the auto tranny credit right now. Just the All-Wheel-Drive and the Eco Credit on the diesels. Good luck helping your friend. Hope he gives you a kickback for all your hard work. 😀

  2. I have used your website before and it is great. I am looking at a 128i convertible. I am in florida and they tell me that the .0019 money factor is only for existing bmw customers. Are they lying? Plus they are charging $599 dealer fee, $139 for floormats, and $160 for detailing. They said floormats don’t come standard, but it says they do on yahoo. What should I be asking for over invoice? Edmunds, says the average price on the car is about 800 over invoice. Does that include the dealer fee or no? The 3 dealers I have talked to all started with lease rates over msrp. Now they say their lowest is about equivalent to what their website advertises. It still seems it should be close to $1000 lower. Thanks for the help.

    • dom, here’s a quick rundown in response to your questions:
      1) 0.0019 is the base rate, which sometimes requires a security deposit. But it doesn’t require you to be an existing BMW customer. Security deposits are currently being waived, so I don’t think you need to pay it to get the base rate. That is the advertised national deal. It is well-known that BMW dealers markup the money factor, so whatever “excuse” they give you to mark it up, it’s usually bogus. The one and only reason to legitimately jack up your MF is if they run you credit and find that it’s less than perfect. Request the base rate or simply tell them you will lease elsewhere.
      2) Fees: Dealer fee is usually pretty standard, it doesn’t mean its not negotiable, but these past few years, the dealer fee has been tough to negotiate because dealers are pretty desperate to make money. The floormats are standard equipment, but you do pay for them. It should be part of the sticker cost. If it doesn’t, the dealer will probably add it to the sale price. Of course, you can always ask for it to be thrown in as part of the deal. The detailing is dealer cost, so they can charge your for it if they want to. In my years of leasing, I’ve never had to pay for the initial detailing because the dealers usually give that away as part of delivery, but they don’t have to. Personally, I wouldn’t buy from a dealer that’s milking me for little stuff like that.
      3) According to TrueCar.com, it looks like the average paid price in FL is $900 over invoice, but the best price is $350 UNDER invoice. I recommend shopping around to see who comes closest to the $350 under invoice price. You will need to haggle to get hte deal you want. You may also want to wait til this weekend since it’s month-end. Just make sure you are ready to pull the trigger if the numbers look good.

  3. I have thus far negotiated lease in Texas – 2011 740i black sapphire only option 19 inch radial spoke wheels – selling price $69600, zero down.

    MSRP- $72825
MF- .00265 I know base .0021 but they refusing to budge although I will buy down with multiple SD (around 5 ) resulting in MF or .00215

    Fees- 1000$

6.25% taxes – $4350 added to cost rolled into lease.

Coming to around $1207.00 a month.

Is this ok, will they move on the MF seems marking up allot what is maximum can mark up?

    • Hey Nik,
I think the deal isn’t very aggressive and I would recommend looking for another dealer to “price compare”. As it stands, the deal isn’t something I would take. There’s still too much money on the table that you haven’t tapped into yet. There isn’t really a “maximum” markup that I am aware of. They can pretty much tell you anything. I normally do not recommend leasing cars with MFs higher than .002 unless there is substantial amount of rebates and cash available to drive down the sale price. In your case, you have neither. If you can wait, I recommend holding off until next month to see BMWFS introduces some incentives fir the 7-series.

  4. Thanks for feedback. Agree not very aggressive deal but for 2011 7 series I have compared with numerous dealers no one would give price of $3200 of MSRP. According to True value the price I recieved is only 300$ or so more than a good price.

I agree MF is what is issue but all dealers quoting me .00265 of course with multiple SD get down to .0021.

Not sure what else I can do to get better deal except waiting for BMW incentives to come around or MF to lower. In Texas so have to pay tax on whole purchase price upfront, this is significant negative impact on deal.

Do you expect MF for 7 series 2011 coming down significantly, I know for 3 series have good deal.

  5. There is a tax rebate essentially no tax on car this month but I will order this car so take 8 weeks to get and that may not be around the other cars on lot are to stacked with unnecessary options that drive up the price.

    • ouch. that’s a tough call Nik. The MF is high, even with the MSDs and if you lose out on the tax rebate, that’s going to make this a really expensive lease. Is there nothing on the lot that you can lease right now?
Based on last year’s trend, Nov/Dec was a better month to lease a 7-series because the MF was dropped from .00245 to .00170. If you wait a few more days, you may be able to see what Nov numbers look like (and hopefully they may be better), then decide if you want to order or take delivery on a car that’s on the lot.

  6. Thanks G. Actually $1200 a month is with taxes. All cars on lot have tons upgrades much higher price, price isn’ the issue just do not want the unecessary upgrades. Do you think better to get deal on 2011 on lot there are some but with 13K in upgrades , same MF and in Texas all taxes based on price of whole car (that hurts). No hurry so will wait a little bit you think Nov. rates or incentives will come out in a week or so?

Is 1200$ a month zero down that bad of a rate for 2011 740i with only $1300 in options, not best but is it that bad. I can wait like i said no hurry!!

What do you think would be fair monthly payment on that car?

    • Nik, I go by the 1% rule or I use my lease calculator’s rating system. The 1% rule states that if your payments are 1% of the MSRP before taxes, then I think its a great deal. Using my lease calculator, I consider any lease with a 100+ rating a fantastic lease; a 90 rating, a very good lease; and any lease in the mid to high 80s fair lease. Anything below that, I would recommend waiting or looking at something else.

In your case, your deal gets a 72 rating before taxes, I can’t fin myself recommending it unless the price and the money factor drops. Unless the payments (before taxes) are in the $800s range, I wouldn’t touch the 7-series.

I should be getting the BMW numbers within a week, so hold off for a bit to see how things look like this month before you make a final decision.
