2011 Land Rover Lease Rates – September 2011

The Land Rover lease rates leave a lot to be desired this month. The discounts are simply not there for a vehicle in this price range. The MF is nice on the LR4, but the residual is a deal-killer. Unless you can get 10% off the MSRP. I really don’t think leasing a LR makes sense. The only bright spot here that I can see is the Range Rover Sport HSE. It has high residual that helps offset the MF. There’s also lease cash on it, which helps keep the sale price down. However, I still don’t think it’s worth leasing unless you can get closer to 10% off MSRP. In So. Cal. TrueCar is indicating about 5% off MSRP with the lease cash. That’s not a lot for a ride at this price.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.

2011 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT HSE
MSRP – $60,495
Sale Price – $57,327 ($1000 lease cash applied)
Monthly – $790+ tax
RWG Rating – 80.2

  1. Hi,
    can you please advise on the following lease for closing:
    2011 Land Rover LR4 HSE
    36mo.
    15K
    $2442.99 (Inception incl. 1st payment)
    Residual = 49%
    MF = 0.00099
    $804.96 Monthly

    • @RJ. Terrible lease. So terrible, I can’t imagine why anyone would consider it. The discount is far too little at that price tag. The Residual is subpar and the MF is not much better (relative to the residual and the price tag). I have to say, unless you have a business and can use the payments as write offs, I would buy the LRs, not lease them.

      Hope this helps.

  2. I am sorry forgot to mention for the above posts:

  3. @G, thanks! I appreciate your honest reply. Do you think buying is better option than lease in case of LRs?
    Thanks again, G.

  4. @G, can you give an example of good LR4 lease (2011) based on my earlier request? thanks in advance, RJ

  5. There’s $2000 in lease cash that’s available (according to Edmunds.com) so you could push for another $2k off the sticker. I still don’t think that makes the deal attractive enough to lease though. I was going to recommend buying, but I’m not seeing any special APR available. You could effectively lease the car since the MF is not terrible (about 2.4% interest) then buy it out at lease end. The best 60 month financing interest I’ve seen so far is 3.18% through Chase so if you plan to lease-to-buy, it would make some sense. For more information on Lease-To-Buy, go to the link below:

  6. @G, thank you so much for your suggestions. They are indeed very helpful as well as the links that you suggested.
    One last question, the $2000 lease cash that you mentioned about LR4 on Edmunds I am not able to find it, can you post the link please…
    thanks in advance,
    RJ
