2013 Hyundai Lease Rates – June 2013

June numbers unchanged from May. I don’t really have much to say about Hyundai in general. The longer I “own” this brand, the more disappointed I get. Yes, I got a recall notice again and I have ZERO motivation to schedule the repairs (but will need to since it sounds kind of serious). Can’t waiting until December to unload the Sonata.

  1. Hi G,

I have been reading this site and find it very helpful.

I am curious about your Sonata woes. Is it because of the lease, or just general mechanical issues with it? I read on here that bundled deals are looked down upon. I was considering their $199 a month with $2199 dues at signing for the GLS AT. Why is that a bad deal? Are you saying it is possible to negotiate a better deal for the same exact car?

    Thanks!

    • Thanks for the visit! My issues with the Sonata are mainly mechanical and quality issues. It will be another 10 years before I consider another Hyundai. With that said, the lease is fine. Typically very attractive so if you get lucky and get a model that isn’t plagued with issues, it wouldn’t be such a bad car to get into.

As for bundled leases. It isn’t necessarily bad if you know how to break down all the fees and calculate the payment. the problem is, most people don’t bother. You can typically get a BETTER deal negotiating the sale price of the vehicle instead of going wit the nationally advertised deal.

      • Hi G-
i’m also curious about your sonata problems. i recall you posted something about the dash or console not wearing well. I didn’t know about the mechanical issues. I also leased a turbo around the same time you did. i like in Florida and the heat here can ruin the interiors of any car (i always tint my windows to help) i had one turbo issue the waste gate and they gave me a brand new genesis r-spec to drive while they fixed it. other then that i’ve problem free. i’m rapidly approaching my mileage limit and i was considering getting another and moving up to the limited turbo. i might be able to wait for the 2014’s but there $2500 with owner loyalty for the next few weeks and i might be able to lease the limited for around what i’m currently paying for the regular turbo. have you been hearing from many sonata owners with other mechanical problems? what else would you recommend in the same price range and features? Kia? i really want a Q50 but the $$ and gas mileage are deal breakers

        • Phil – I hear you on the Q50. Too new to consider if you ask me. I’m hearing the newer Sonatas aren’t half as bad as the ones we got. However, I’m just not feeling the Turbo. I’d rather have a true V6. I think the gas mileage is nice on the highway though, but city driving is almost as bad as my G37. I do mostly city driving so there isn’t a big win for me there. I find that most people like the Optima better than the Sonata. Have you thought of the Accord/Camry? A coworker of mine picked up a Camry Hybrid and loves it. 500 miles per gallon city. I’m skipping Hyundais for another 3-6 years. May consider revisiting later, but I can’t get another one back-to-back…I would hate myself. LOL

  2. G-
I looked at more or less everything you mentioned including your G37. I dont want to offend Camry/Accord owners. I think both drive beautifully. I know they are “bullet-proof” in terms of quality and reliability. i just find the interiors boring. i really like the G37, unfortunately i have a 70 mile per day commute and i want to try to keep the gas mileage up. I dig the Optima. the residual was much worse when i leased the sonata. its better today but i’d want the limited and i think if i’m in the 35k range there are better choices…i think i need take a look at the G37
