My Take: Here’s the scoop on the G37 sedans right now. The 48-month lease should get you the lowest payment, but I would probably opt for the 36-month anyway because of the additional costs of tires, assuming you don’t get the Sports model that has those sticky performance tires. With performance tires, you will probably need to replace them before the 36th month, so if you plan to go Sport, you probably want to go with the 48-month. That way you don’t pay for new tires and then have to return the car. Tires ARE expensive, specially if they are 18+ inches and are low profile. If you need tires on your car right now, you may want to order them from an online retailer (such as Tire Rack) and have them shipped to Walmart (or any other place) to have them mounted. Be sure to check the prices for mounting the tires and to arrange delivery with the location of your choice. Going back to the G37, the 36 and the 48 month lease are pretty good right now. Not great, but good. Money factors are low, residual are lower than the 08’s at around the same time last year, but they are more realistic. This means you can probably sell the car at any time during your lease and either break even or make a little money from it (assuming you kept the miles low and the car in great shape). Last years residuals were bad, my car is probably worth about $2k-$3k less than the payoff price right now, and I only have about 9000 miles after exactly 1 year. Anyway, if you don’t mind going bare-bones, the G37 Base model should give you a sub $400 monthly payment (before taxes). I have a base and its still a very solid car, so I can’t complain.

Hey- i was looking at the G37X AWD with wood trim, premium package for June and here are the numbers:
MSRP: 39750
Sale: 37950
RV: 57%
Term: 39 months
Miles: 10k/year
Down: $4800 (includes maintenance, all fees)
Money Factor: 0.00141
Payments: $434/month (includes tax of 3%)
I also have an offer from BMW for the 328xi with premium, automatic, cold weather. MSRP is 42,500. I haven’t got all the numbers, but for a 36 month lease at 10k miles per year they are asking $407/month with $4800 down that includes all of their fees and maintenance. BMW does charge $350 at end of lease to return the car unless you get another BMW. Infiniti charges nothing at the end of the lease. I like both cars a lot and the BMW has a few less features packaged that way. Any thoughts on what is a better deal? A lease calculator said I should be paying $358/month for the infiniti, is that right?

@sam, i think you are paying too much upfront. $4800 is a lot. Prepaying for your “maintenance” is pointless. You are better off negotiating free oil changes to be thrown into your deal. Each oil change is like $50, you need maybe like 2 a year at most. With you 10k mile limit, you would be looking at 1 oil change per year. 2nd service is oil change, inspection and tire rotation, which should not exceed more than $100. After that, you should just take somewhere cheaper. There is no requirement that your leased car is serviced at the dealer, so you can save money that way. Personally, prepaying for maintenance on a lease is not worth the money. With BMWs, it is included as part of the purchase price, so in your case, you shouldn’t have to pay so much upfront for that.
In my opinion, if you are looking at the coupes, the 328xi might be the better deal. If it’s the sedan, stick with the infiniti and skip the maintenance. I would also push for the sale price of the G37x to be dropped another $1000, that should bring you down to invoice. As it stands, you are paying $1000 over.
Thanks G. I had them throw in the maintenance and make the offer similar to BMW’s. I guess I am not really putting down $4800- $3000 of that was in a trade in for cap cost reduction. I know I can get the maintenance elsewhere, but just wanted to compare the two as best I could. I am looking at the sedan by the way. Do you know if that $358/month figure I came up with for the infiniti would be correct? i used the calculator on leaseguide.com. Thanks again!
@sam, i cannot replicate the $358 payment you are talking about. I’m getting $491 (3% tax) without any cap cost reduction AND inception fees due at signing…around $1300 or so. I don’t how you are getting $358 with the leaseguide.com calculator though. But I never really liked their calculator very much. LOL. I prefer mine. Haahaa.
