2012-13 Honda Lease Rates – November 2012

As expected, Honda has brought down the residuals for the month of November. There has been a drop in money factor as well on select models, with the Pilot getting the most significant drop (from .00155 to .00022) Expect the numbers to remain the same through the remainder for the year. The Holiday Leasing Season has officially begun!

2012-13 Honda Lease Rates – October 2012

Nothing too crazy here. New Accord’s numbers came in about what I expected. Relatively high residual along with a high money factor. Last month’s Truecar sales data has the sale of 2013 Accords all over the map. Anywhere from invoice to well over MSRP (silly early adopters…haahaa). Anyway, the car looks solid and should give the Camry, Altima and Sonata some good competition.

Looking over the SUV market, I think prices should drop in the California market because of the insanely high gas prices. If you are a poor schmuck like me who needs the space but doesn’t want to pay over $100 bucks to fill up 3/4 of a tank, go with something more moderate, like a CRV. Not sure I like this month’s numbers on this crossover, though. It needs some Holiday Season cash to sweeten the deal if you ask me.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – September 2012

Numbers don’t look as obvious as some of the other brands. Residuals, for most cars, dropped. However, Honda didn’t drop the MFs to compensate, they bumped it up a bit. So what’s the deal? Well, it looks like here is marketing (dealer) cash available on practically every single 2012 left in stock. This is probably the last month I will be posting 2012 numbers so expect 2013s to pop up next month. Taking a look at the Accord, there is $1750 in dealer marketing cash available. I have taken the lowest sold price on the LX Accord, but I am willing to bet there’s a little extra wiggle room due to the dealer cash. Be sure to take advantage of it.

On a more personal note, wife and I took a spin on the 2012 Honda Pilot Touring. We are looking closely at the EX 4WD, which we will more than likely pick up in the Bay Area since So Cal is devoid of 4WD Pilots. However, it looks like the 2013 will have Bluetooth and backup camera as standard equipment (even on the lowly LX), so there is a possibility we hold out for the 2013…Which brings me to our dilemma…what to do with the 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg? Do we buy it and drop the Sonata when the 2013 gets cheap next Fall? Do we go with go all out with the 2012 Touring 4WD? Decisions, decisions…

2012 Honda Lease Rates – August 2012

Most cars lease rates stayed the same. CRZ, CRV and Ridgeline got MF reductions. Honda clearance event is going on now, so it is a good time to go out and see what kind of deals you can get.
I recommend that you check out last year’s Honda posts and she when the cutoff of 2011/2012 models happens. That should give you a good indication when the 2013s will arrive. By the way, TrueCar changed their chart (yet again) and the dealer cost doesn’t show anymore. I said it some time ago, but I get the feeling that it’s going to get harder and harder for consumers to negotiate a good price because information is becoming harder to get.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – July 2012

Pretty much the expected drop in residual and mf. Nothing out of the norm. The sale prices on the Accords are coming at or near dealer cost, which is really good. It’s Accord clearance time and it shows. I see tons of people getting new Accords nowadays and I don’t blame them. If you are shopping for a family sedan that’s refined and reliable, this is the one to get.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – June 2012

Not a lot of changes with Honda lease rates this month. Everything look about the same as last month. The Accord is getting a refresh soon (Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan have already done so), so expect the current Accord to be the last of it’s generation. This typically means good deals can be had through the model year (i.e. $1250 dealer cash). Below, I did a very “conservative” estimate of Invoice – $1250 dealer cash. My recommendation is to make an initial offer that is lower than my estimate and go no further than invoice – dealer cash.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – May 2012

I am not seeing any changes yet on Honda lease rates, so as of now, I am going to stick with last month’s numbers. I will revisit the numbers mid-month to see if anything changes.

TrueCar changed their website, yet again. I am not seeing their “lowest price” anymore so I will base my calculations based MSRP minus the “average savings”. With that in mind, I still think the Accord SE is an excellent lease. The Altima is also very good so make sure you cross-shop before making your final decision.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – April 2012

Honda lease rates carry over from March. There is dealer cash available for the Accord, Civic and CrossTour right now, so if you are shopping for either one of these models, you are in luck. Remember that “dealer cash” is not the same thing as “customer cash”. Customer cash is for you, the customer. Dealer cash is for the dealer, which they are not required to give you in it’s entirety. Generally, dealers will give you a good chunk of it in order to make a sale. That doesn’t exactly mean that you can’t get the whole thing, though. It never hurts to ask.

Looking below, you will notice an estimate for the Accord Sedan SE. Personally, I think you can do better than that because my calculations do not include the $1250 dealer cash that’s available. Hypothetically, I see being able to stay at this monthly payment but with a $0 drive-off instead of paying inception fees upfront.
