09 Nissan Altima Lease Rates for January 2009

My Take: There is a $1500 cash rebate for the Altima right now, which should really help you lower your lease payments. The residual values are still fairly high and the money factor seems to have been lowered somewhat. This is not a bad month to lease the Altima 2.5 S. My calculations do not factor in the cash rebate, so you should expect even lower monthly payments for a base model Altima S. Alternatively, you can add about $1500 worth in upgrades and you should come pretty close to my estimates. Remember to stay away from the 24-month and and 48-month leases. I probably don’t need to tell you why. Also, there shouldn’t be any reason why you should be paying MSRP right now, unless of course, you like your dealer and want to see them make a some money, I am sure they will be quite grateful.

November 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Subaru Forrester, Toyota Corolla and Nissan Altima

My Take: Here are three decent leases for the month for those who are budget conscious. The Forrester is looking pretty good with a starting lease of $301 and up (at invoice). One drawback is that Subaru has a VERY healthy options list which means it will quickly add up. Just make sure you get what you need and don’t get carried away. The dealer could contribute $700 towards your lease (since they are doing it as part of a special lease program). The Corolla is dirty cheap in my opinion since it’s really a “budget” car. Much cheaper to lease than a Mazda3 I think, but much less exciting to drive too. The Altima is the beefier of the group so it has a steeper price tag. Even so, there’s $750 in rebates available which should drive down the costs a bit. Again, all these estimates are based on stock models, so the more options you add, the pricier it gets. The residual and money factors look pretty good for 36-month leases so they are worth a look before the end of the month.

October 2008 Lease Rates for 08/09 Nissan Altima

My Take: There are two 09 models of the Nissan Altima that have decent rates while three of the 08s look like they are being clearanced. The sweet spot on the 08s and 09s seem to be the 36mo lease, but the 08s 24-month lease also looks very good. Don’t forget to factor in the $500 customer cash on the 2009 models, and if you are a recent or soon to be graduate, you get another $500. The $500 guaduate cash is also available on the 2008 models, but the best part seems to be the $1250 customer cash that’s also there for the taking.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08/09 Nissan Altima

My Take: A couple of things to note about the Nissan Altima S Coupe. The 09’s residual is 1% lower and the MF is HIGHER than the 08. Yes folks, the 08’s coupes are leasing better than the 09’s. I wouldn’t take the plunge on the 09 models just yet. It seems Nissan is trying to push some of their 08 inventory before year end, so be sure to look into those if you are shopping for an Altima.

Battle of the Sedans: Camry, Accord or Altima

Instead of recommending which car is built better, I’ve decided to take a different approach and tell you which car leases better. For this particular “special competition”, I’ll be comparing the Accord, Camry & Altima. You probably don’t need my thoughts about which car is the better car, after all, there are tons of websites doing that already. I just want to tell you which one will save you some greens. Let’s roll!

  • Camry XLE V6
  • MSRP $30,014 ($30,514-$500)
  • Invoice N/A

  • Residuals posted are for 12K miles/year.

2009 Toyota Camry XLE V6
36 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00099 Base Rate

36mo Payment: $337 at TMV, $357 at MSRP

Without an invoice price, it is rather difficult to get a nice range on the Camry. Edmund’s TMV does suggest the sale price to be about $29,317 after the $500 rate. This means you only about $697 off MSRP in most areas.

  • Altima Sedan 3.5 SE + Premium + Moonroof
  • MSRP $29,685
  • Invoice $27,367
  • Standard inception fees + tax not included
  • Residuals posted are for 12K miles/year.

2008 Nissan Altima Sedan 3.5 SE
36 Month – Residual 56% of MSRP – .00087 Base Rate

36mo Payment: $337 at invoice, $397 at TMV, $403 at MSRP

TMV suggests the sale price to be at around $29,476. Not much of a discount off MSRP here according to Edmunds. I’m not 100% sold on that fact however. Keep in mind that the Altima is a 2008 model, so I think discounts could be had.

  • Accord EX-L V6
  • MSRP $28,730
  • Invoice $26,086
  • Standard inception fees + tax not included
  • Residuals posted are for 12K miles/year.

2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6
36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00129 Base Rate

36mo Payment: $317 at invoice, $341 at TMV, $393 at MSRP

For the Accord, we are looking at a sale price of $26,927 according to Edmund’s TMV. Cheapest of the bunch thus far. But how does it lease with a higher MF and middle of the pack residual? About the same.

My Take: Clearly, the Camry stands tall compared to the other two. At TMV price, it blows away the Altima and is relatively competitive with the Accord, at $4 less per month. The Camry comes in with the highest residual and the 2nd lowest MF (by a hair), making it the more attractive lease despite the fact that it’s the most expensive car of the bunch. The only instance in which I would pick the Accord or the Altima over the Camry is if both could be had at invoice or below invoice price and the Camry couldn’t. In the spirit of the Olympics, here’s how the winners break down.

My Take The Altima’s 24-36mo leases are looking pretty decent right now. Remember that your residual value jump 2% from the posted numbers if you choose to go with the 12k mile yearly allowance instead of the 15k, which can save you substantial amounts of cash.

My Take: Suprisingly Enough, the Altima has become a strong contender against the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Strong residuals and money factors make this vehicle a pretty good lease. Funny how the Altima was originally slated to be one class below the midsized family sedan. Now, it has effectively squeezed the Maxima out and made itself comfortable in that segment.
