Numbers have changed. It looks like residuals and money factors have been reworked a bit. Incentives remain the same as July which is actually good news since last month’s four payment waiver was awesome.

2012-13 Volvo Lease Rates – July 2012

Numbers carry over from June (they were the same as May. That’s three months in a row!). There are a few changes to their incentives through.

Conquest, Loyalty and Dealer Cash are all still present
Dealer cash is now $2,000 on C70, $1,500 on 2012 and 2013 XC-90, $1,000 on S60 T-5, $1,500 on S60 T-6, $500 on S80, and $1,000 on XC-60
Volvo has also upped the 2 payment waiver program to 4 payments waived. That’s FOUR payments you don’t have to pay! YEY!

I may be speaking out of my “you know what”, but I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the dealer could potentially discount you up to $1800 (four payments, maxed at $450 per payment) in addition to the dealer cash and conquest/loyalty. See my “hypothetical” numbers below. Remember. this is an assumption, so you need to work these numbers out with your dealer. They have final say, I don’t. My job is to highlight what “may” be possible. Best of luck to you all! These numbers look sick (in a good way)!!!

Same as last month, but incentives are sweeter. Volvo will pay your first two payments (up to $450) in addition to all incentives that carry over from last month (see below). From what I am being told, some dealers will apply the two payments as a $900 deduction off the sale price of the car, so you can get either loyalty or conquest plus an additional $900. Not too shabby considering how good the lease rates look.

$1000 Loyalty on all Volvos
$1000 Conquest on S60 and XC-60
$500 Dealer Cash on C70 and S80
All compatible with leases

Things just got way nicer for the S60 this month. If you were waiting to lease a S60, your wait is over.

Residual have dropped for most cars (some actually got a residual increase for 36-month lease terms, see C70 T-5) and MFs have dropped to compensate. Here are the incentives available this month:

$1000 Loyalty on all Volvos
$1000 Conquest on S60 and XC-60
$500 Dealer Cash on C70 and S80
All compatible with leases

S60 lease is still very good. Assuming an invoice price minus incentives, the S60 T-5 gets a 89.9 RWG rating. You could technically go a bit lower on the sale price to crack the 90+ RWG rating because there is about $900 difference between the dealer cost and invoice price. That would be tapping into the holdback, which means it is done at dealer’s discretion. To keep things simple, I recommend asking for the target sale price you are comfortable with straight up. If the dealer can do it, they will. If not, you will need to do some negotiation.

Residual drops 1%-2% with MF dropping to keep things within a reasonable payment range (relative to last month).

For the S60 specifically, there is $1000 loyalty (available to your household) and $1000 conquest (available to owners of Acura, Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, or Volkswagen). This is good news because it helps drop the sale price down to about 7.5% off MSRP assuming you qualify for either of these rebates. The S60 T5 is a good lease right now and it’s a pretty sweet ride, just check out Nick’s S60 T5 and you will see why the S60 is a good alternative to any other ride around this price range. It also comes with Volvo’s complimentary Safe + Secure Coverage Plan which will take care of you through the life of the lease.

I know this is late, but I just got these numbers a couple days ago, plus I’ve been slammed with work at the office and at home. Better late than never I say. I think that these numbers should remain useful through the month of February anyway, so you technically have more than a month to use them. As always, any changes will be posted. Oh, before I forget, notice the 2013 lease rates for the XC90! Nice and early!

I honestly think that Volvo has done a good job crawling back into the leasing landscape. Their rates are very competitive and their discounts are decent. I’m seeing about 4% to 5% off MSRP in the SoCal region for S60s via TrueCar. Not a huge discount, but $1000 loyalty cash is available. Please note that the financing rates are quite competitive as well should you choose to buy instead. Last month’s RWG rating on the S60 T5 was about 93.0. This month, we’re looking at around 90.2. Yes, the deal isn’t as good as during the Holiday season, but January leases rarely are. However, this rating is still within the “GOOD LEASE” range.

2012 Volvo Lease Rates – December 2011

There has been a drop in residual values ranging from 1% to 2% for most models in the line up. Luckily, Volvo has adjusted the Money Factor to keep the lease from tanking. I actually prefer having a lower residual and lower money factor because it gives you the option of buying-out your lease at a more reasonable price should you love your car. If you are curious about the Lease-To-Buy scenario I just described, check out this LINK.

Moving onto a sample Volvo lease, the S60 is still an attractive lease, specially for returning customers. Below you will see a more “REAL WORLD” estimate based on a well-equipped S60 T5 with Sunroof. The lease is still good, but not as enticing as last month. TrueCar indicates about 8% off MSRP in the SoCal region excluding the $1000 loyalty cash is still available, which bumps the discount to about 10%. Without the loyalty cash, the lease drops to a 88.8 RWG rating which is still within an acceptable range, but not as ideal. Given a choice, I would recommend BUYING the car because you can get a lower interest rate of 0.9% for 48 months OR 1.9% for 72 months, both which are much lower than the 2.38% the MF converts to.

2012 Volvo Lease Rates – November 2011

No change this much. Numbers look slightly better because I noticed a $100 increase in the MSRP. Not sure if I overlooked that last month or if there was an actual price increase. Nevertheless, higher MSRP and same sale price as last month equals lower monthly payment. By now, I pretty much expect everyone to know why this happens. If you don’t know, you should refer to the lease formula for details. The S60 T5 is one wicked lease right now. I like it ALOT! Highly recommend if you want to stick with an European brand but are turned off by the high payments of the BMWs, Audis and MBs.

Financing rates aren’t half bad either 0.9% for 48 and 1.9% for 60. Not too shabby and actually lower than the MF.

Costco is not currently offering any cash cards like they usually do during the holidays (They are currently doing it for Chevy & GMC, see here). That doesn’t mean this won’t change down the road, so keep an eye out on their auto website.
