2012 Hyundai Lease Rates – April 2012

Strangely enough, HMF re-adjusted the residual values for almost all of their cars. They also adjusted the money factor too. Some when up, while others came down. It’s a mixed bag if you ask me. The downside is that some cash incentives are no longer available, so I’m not sure I like the “improved” residuals and money factors on some models.

If you are leasing a Sonata, please note the $1500 cash is no longer available. Only the $500 loyalty cash is there now. That’s actually not that great because the $1500 that was originally there was fantastic. Now, please take my sample calculations below with a grain of salt. The sale price is based on March sale prices, so I would definitely try to knock off another grand or so to bring the payments closer to last month’s level.

I am being old that the $1500 lease cash is still around. I don’t see it on Edmunds.com, but it may very well be there. I recommend asking for it and see if you can get it. For all intents and purposes, I won’t be adjusting my calculation below. However, I do recommend taking that extra cash into consideration when crunching your own numbers. Specially if the dealer is willing to honor it.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.

2012 Hyundai Lease Rates – March 2012

Hyundai residuals have dropped about 1% for most models (the Santa Fe drops by 3%, probably because a newly redesign model is just around the corner) but the MF carries over from last month unchanged. A reduction in residual without MF adjustment usually means your payments will jump compared to last month. Expect about $6-$7 change per month. Nothing outrageous, but worth noting.

Looking at the Sonata 2.0T SE calculation below, you will see how the lease payments are up slightly compared to last month. That’s not to say that you should expect that payment. On the contrary, these calculations are based on last month’s sales data, so I would encourage your to push for a bigger discount (before the rebates). Overall, I think Hyundai has entrenched themselves in the leasing world and not only do they have attractive lease programs, but they also have a good crop of highly sought-after cars too.

2012 Hyundai Lease Rates – February 2012

The only car qualifying as a “deal” right now is the Sonata 2.0T SE. There is a lot of cash available right now, but not a lot of discounts off MSRP w/o using manufacturer incentives. The one thing I recommend is that you be careful when you lease a Hyundai. The payments are VERY attractive since they are generally $200-$300 per month for most cars, but they are also fairly inexpensive cars, so you don’t want to end up overpaying.

For example, leasing a Genesis Coupe for $300 a month +tax and inceptions isn’t all that bad, but the car’s MSRP is only $24k. So keep that in mind. Same goes for the other low priced models such as the Elantra, Accent and Veloster.

2012 Hyundai Lease Rates – December 2011

Unfortunately, I didn’t find a lot of Hyundai lease rates this month. I really need to get a more reliable source for this because scouring through online forums of this stuff just isn’t cutting it. R-Spec Genesis rates suck, but I’m not surprised since it’s a limited production vehicle. The Veloster looks decent but discount are a measly 2% off MSRP in my area. Not good enough in my opinion. The Sonata numbers look about the same as last month, slight drop in residual, but other than that, MF remains the same. Overall, if you are looking to get a Sonata, look to lease because long-term financing a purchase isn’t all that great (3.9% for 60 months & 4.9% for 72 months).

2011-12 Hyundai Lease Rates – October 2011

The Hyundai Veloster is out and it’s lease rate doesn’t look terrible. Unfortunately, discounts off sticker are not significant, so the lease doesn’t look very good (See below to see what I mean). With this in mind, if you have been waiting to get your hands on the Veloster, I would probably wait a few months to see how things shake out. The car is far too new at the moment, so it’s place in the marketplace is still up in the air. Plus, there’s a Turbo model in the works, so you may want to hold out and test drive that ride before you make your final decision.

By the way, the $500 cash on the Sonata is still available. It does help make the lease more attractive, but it still lags behind the deals people were getting earlier this year.
