Infiniti Special Financing for 2008 Models

If you missed out on Infiniti’s August lease rates and special financing, they have decided to extend their 0% and 0.9% financing on their 2008 EX, G, M and QX models.

Models offering 0% financing for 72 months include the EX and QX.

Models offering 0.9% financing for 60 months include G35 sedan, G37 coupe, M35 and M45.

Unfortunately, the 09 FX are not included in these special offers.

Leasing a 2008 model will become less and less attractive as we near the end of the year.  Since special financing is available, financing a purchase is the wiser financial decision. No MF will be low enough to beat 0% financing. It’s a interest free loan! If that isn’t good enough reason to consider a purchase, I don’t know what is.

Offer ends 9/30.

On a side note, GM extended their Employee Pricing offer until 9/30 as well. I know, who cares right? Well, you might want to if you are considering a roadster. GM may be pulling the plug on the Sky and Solstice because the platform in which they are built on is not “profitable”. For car nuts like myself, this is significant news because these two cars have a lot of “potential” in the aftermarket world. It may even be possible that these two cars’ resale value may go up in the near future because super fanboy (and girls) may want to buy them for modding.

August 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Infiniti G35/G37

My Take: The official word is that the 08 G35 and G37 July rates will carry over to August, possibly into Sept 2. The 09 models will be arriving in September, so G’s in general are no longer in production. The days of getting a G35/G37 for under $400 with no cap reduction are not exactly over. However, selection is limited, so you may not get exactly what you want. Also, keep in mind that Infiniti has introducted 1.9% financing for up to 72 months as well (in addition to their 0.9% for 60 months), in case you wanted to go the purchasing route. Lets play with some numbers, shall we?

  • G35 Journey + Premium
  • MSRP $36015
  • Invoice $33046
  • Standard inception fees plus tax
  • Terms in BOLD

G35 24mo Payment: $445 at invoice, $572 at MSRP.
G35 36mo Payment: $429 at invoice, $515 at MSRP.

Not as cheap as it used to be. Using June’s numbers, this same car at invoice would have been $400 on a 24mo/15k lease. To say the July/August aren’t as good is an understatement, but I sense that things could get worse, so leasing the G now may be the best time. The good news is that the G35 can be had below invoice in most areas with fairly good competition. Assuming the following conditions, 36mo/12k, $500 under invoice, your monthly payments can get as good as $395 + tax. Drop to a 10k mile lease and you are looking at $376 + tax.

  • G37 Sport + Premium
  • MSRP $40215
  • Invoice $36856
  • Standard inception fees plus tax
  • Terms in BOLD

G37S 24mo Payment: $470 at invoice, $616 at MSRP.
G37S 36mo Payment: $474 at invoice, $793 at MSRP.

The funny thing about the G37 is that it leases better at 24 months. It was the same back in May/June too. I kind of regret not going for the 24mo lease over the 39mo lease come to think of it. Oh well, whatever. The G37 should be attainable at invoice in most areas with high competition. I haven’t heard of many people getting it for under invoice, but lets assume you can get it for $250 under invoice, and change the terms to 24mo/12k (10k is the same residual as 12k on a 24mo lease, so no point doing 10k). The payments should be around $439 + tax. Gone are the days where you could get a well equipped G37 for under $400. Of course, if you don’t mind getting the base model (like I did), you can still get it for $383 +tax per month at invoice for the 24mo/12k term…assuming you can find one.

You should be able to estimate the residuals for the G35/G37 journey and sport (+/- 1% or 2%) by looking at the other numbers posted.

My Take: As you probably noticed, the rates are exactly the same as in May. This offer is good until June 30th. After that, who knows. I can’t say the rates are THE BEST ones for the year. They could be better, then again, they could be worse. Expect a drop of 1-2% in the residual in July/August, but I’m pretty sure IFS will lower the MF to compensate for the loss in residual value. Whether that will yield better numbers than May/June, NO CLUE. Just know that the later you lease, the lower the residual. As you all know, if you can afford the gas prices, this car is FUN to own. I’m personally having a blast with it.  Although, $4.29+ per gallon really sucks…specially since this car has a 20 gallon tank. That’s $80 bucks to fill…for now. :S

The Wall: G’s 2008 Infiniti G37

Name: Mrs G
Location: California
What He’s Got: Ivory 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe Base
What It Cost: $1300 drive-off, $424 a month with 9.75% CA sales tax.

My Take: Problably one of the best leases in the Spring/Summer of 2008. I did what I could and ended up about $30 bucks over invoice when most people were going a few hundred over.

RIDE with G37

It’s official folks!!! I’m the proud new lessee of a 2008 Ivory Pearl Infiniti G37. I did not get the Journey trim with the Premium, Sports or Tech package, instead I opted for the base model. Here are my reasons for doing so:

  • The residual value of the base model IS higher than the Journey or the Sport. That means, I save money.
  • The difference between a base G37 and a G37 Journey + Premium is well over $4,000. That translates to about $40-$50 more per month on the G37 Journey + Premium.
  • The Base model does come with a decent assortment of features, but I still get the same 330hp engine.
  • At 39 months and 12k miles per year (39k at lease end), the car will lease at UNDER $400 a month with about $1000 down (maybe less).
  • A G35 Journey + Premium would have cost me another $18 bucks more per much, not bad, but I really wanted the 2-door.

Overall, I’m pleased. The car is fun and I didn’t have to go down to a 10,000 mile per year lease to save more money. Sure I could have shaved another $9-$10 bucks off the payment by doing so, but I get the feeling I will be doing a lot of driving. 😀

This quick picture I took is inside my garage. My wife says its pretty ghetto (I agree), so I’ll post better pictures when I can find a better place to take them.

As far as the details of the lease, I’ll provide those in a couple days. It’s been an eventful weekend, I’ve trying to recover from a cold and I have tons of things to do still, but it will get done sooner rather than later.

What happened to the Mazda CX-7? Well, I decided not to lease it because I didn’t enjoy dealing with the Internet Sales Manager over at Long Beach Mazda. I hate it when people beat around the bush when I ask specific questions. When I ask “What is your bank fee and doc fee?”, just answer the freaking question. Don’t say to me “It’s covered by the rebate” What does it matter? I didn’t ask if it was covered by the rebate. If you can’t answer my question, that means you got something to hide; if you got something to hide, that means I don’t deal with you. Case closed. Looks like I will have to create a blacklist of dealerships to avoid.

Test Drive: Infiniti G35 and G37

Over the weekend, I test drove the G35 Journey + Premium and the G37 Base. I’m still very torn as to which I’d like to take home. Based on the quotes I’ve been getting, the G37 Base seems seems to lease a little bit better due to a higher residual value. It’s been such a dilemma for me lately that I decided to write a comparison which you can read below.

Performance: In everyday driving, the extra 30hp that the G37 provides is not very noticeable. They both provide a lot of low-end torque and potent acceleration. The steering on both vehicles is very light and nimble, making them both a pleasure to drive. Edge: Tie

Exterior Styling – In terms of exterior styling, the G37 has a lower profile, smooth lines and aggressive stance. The G35, compared to the G37, look a bit pudgy. Edge: G37

Interior Styling – They look very similar inside. The fit and finish is great and the materials are massively upgraded from the previous generation of the G-series. A 7″ info screen doubles as a video screen if you decide to hook up a dvd player or a gaming console to it using AV jacks. Video will not work while the vehicle is in motion, however, I’m sure the after-market community has found a way to by pass that. Edge: Tie.

Driver Comfort – I prefer the driving position of the G37. There is a difference since the G37 sits a bit lower and it makes me feel like I fit into the cockpit vs being on top of it. Edge: G37

Passenger Comfort – The G35 excels here obviously since it’s a 4-door sedan. There is more head room in the back and it’s easy to get in and out. This is not to say that the G37 is extremely uncomfortable for passengers, the main issue I have noticed is that rear windshield extends further up into the roof, exposing rear passengers’ head in direct sunlight. This makes for a very hot ride during the summer season. Edge: G35

Creature Comforts – Having a premium package on the G35 Journey certainly adds a load of fancy features such as moonroof, bluetooth, ipod control integration, dual climate controls, auto steering tilt, etc. Not to say the G37 base is poorly equipped, but having the premium package does add quite a few “bells and whistles”. Edge: G35

Trunk Space – Surprisingly enough, the G35’s trunk isn’t THAT big, but certainly at least 33% bigger than the G37. They are very similar in width and length dimensions, however, the G35’s trunk is a bit deeper than the G37s. Edge: 35

Price – The G37 has a MSRP of $35,215 and a sale price of $32,916. The G35, on the other hand, has a MSRP of $35,665 and sale price of $32,993. Unfortunately, due to lower residual value, the G35 will cost anywhere from $10-$22 dollars more per month, depending on the term and mileage you choose. Apparently the insurance increase is insignificant (about $3 per month), making the G37 base cheaper to lease. However, this won’t be the case if you opt for the G37 Journey + Premium or any other trim for that matter. Edge: G37

Overall, some of these categories tend to favor sedans over coupes (such as trunk space and passenger comfort), making the G35 the obvious choice. If you are usually the only one in the car, don’t carry passengers or pick up people at the airport on a regular basis, the coupe is certainly the more “driver oriented” of the two. As for me, my heart tells me the G37 is what I want, but the G35’s premium package is enticing me to reconsider. I could opt for the G37 Journey with Premium, but that will set me back another $40+ a month, which is about $2000 more over the life of the lease.

And then there were three (maybe four)

I’ve been putting a lot of thought into the final 5 cars on my list and decided to scratch out the Acura TL. The car is a fairly common ride in SoCal. I like them like prime rib, medium-RARE, the TL is more like medium-well around these parts. Another reason is the rate hike, making the lease less attractive than it was back in March. So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen Good Night!

Here are the remaining candidates in order of preference:

Infiniti G37 base – I’m working on perhaps getting this at $200 under invoice price…still waiting on some quotes. I’m shooting for around $1350 drive-off (1st payment, tags, bank fee, doc fee, etc…) and $414 a month. This car is stock though, so i don’t get all the fancy technology stuff the Journey offers. Its not to say that this comes poorly equipped, the standard list of features isn’t too bad actually. My main reason for lusting after this ride? the styling and the 330hp V-6 engine, which by the way, gets slightly better MPG than the Mazda CX7’s 4cyl Turbo.

Infiniti G35 Journey – Same as the G37 in terms of pricing. Working on $200 under invoice for ideal price. It should be around the same drive-off, but about $2 less per month (wooo-freaking-hoo), $412.

Mazda CX-7 GT – I like this car so far because its got potential to become a better deal. I know I can probably work it some more and get it under $400 a month with no more than $1000 drive-off. Plus this puppy is fully loaded, with the exception of RES (rear entertainment system), which is fine since I don’t have kids…yet. But everything else is there, including the poor gas mileage.

Afterthoughts

I’m keeping the Accord V6 coupe in the back burner right now…the money factor kills me, but I think if they are willing to sell for invoice it would really help offset the bad rate. This is more like the worst, worst, worst case scenario. It’s a long shot, but it’s still a shot since I really like the overall aspects of this car.

How do they drive you ask? No freaking clue, I haven’t even taken the time to go test drive them, but I am planning to go this coming weekend. It would be a good opportunity to get a feel for what I can get for my trade-in as well. I could probably wait another month to see if the rates improve too, but I’m getting rather antsy…which is not a good thing.
