2012-13 Nissan Lease Rates – June 2012

Sorry for the delay with the Nissan numbers. Cut my finger last weekend so typing was rather painful. Work was also a bit overwhelming this week so the blog sort of was left in the back burner. Anyway, you still have a solid week to cut deals on the Altima, which should still be getting a lot of discounts right now. 2013 model is officially out and it looks expensive. Residual is pretty nice though. Curious as to what the 2013 Altima leases for this month? TrueCar suggests that their dealers are offering the 2013 Altima S for about 4% off MSRP. Using that assumption, please see calculation below. If you are a recent college graduate, knock off another $500.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.

2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN S
MSRP – $23,280
Sale Price – $22,280

  1. Good to see the Nissan numbers!

I’m working on a lease of a 2012 Altima coupe with Premium, Convenience, etc. MSRP $29,840. Sale price $24,850. I’m in Texas, so the full 6.25% auto tax of $1553 would be part of the lease.

Trying to calculate a 39 month lease for 12K miles/year, using your figures above I’m coming to ~$320/month. Dealer’s first quote was $366, nothing down, only first payment due at signing. I haven’t seen the details yet, so I don’t know what all he’s trying to roll in there. But from everything else I’ve read on various sites, $366 seems way too high for an Altima Coupe lease.

What should I realistically be aiming for?

    Thanks!

    • Without actual numbers for the 39 month lease, its tough to say. However, nissan’s trend is to lower the residual and increase the money factor. This will still yield a lower payment than the 36 month lease though. Your 366 quote seems very high. I am inclined to agree with you that it should be closer to you estimate. See if you can get the 39 month rates to confirm.

      • Thanks for the reply, G! I’ve talked with the dealer this morning, and he’s using a MF of .00003 and residual of 51%, matching your numbers above.

However, he’s saying that the rebates/incentives available on purchases aren’t applicable to leases. From my past leasing experience (with Infiniti), that’s not really the case. So while they’re offering a sales price for a purchase of around 14% below MSRP, the sales price for a lease is only 5% below MSRP.

The agreed upon sales price for a car shouldn’t matter that much for purchase vs lease, should it? From everything else I’ve read lately, any deal these days should be at least 10% below MSRP, and even more now at the end of a model year. I wouldn’t think there would really be that much of a “penalty” for a lease vs purchase.

  2. Does anyone have a contact with a NJ Nissan dealer that will be a straight shooter? I am traveling until 7/15 and plan to execute by 7/21 but the dealer I went to this weekend wasn’t very helpful and I’d like to not waste time with this. All they would say is $1,800 discount from MSRP which I know has to be better. Hell, I’d be better off going through the AMEX program…

  3. Hi there –

I’m a first time buyer/leaser in southern California and just got a price quote for the 2013 Altima SV with convenience pkg. My price after discount off the MSRP is 24,677. The numbers they are giving me is $2500, 345 including taxes per month. I’m extremely unfamiliar with leasing a car and wondering if this is an acceptable deal? Thanks for your time!

    • Hi Kim,
Please provide more information on your lease.
What is the MSRP? What did your dealer quote for the residual and money factor. I can probably guess what your drive-offs are going to be here in So Cal, but the MSRP, residual and money factor are key parts in determining whether your deal was fair or not.
