2012 Honda Lease Rates – March 2012

Most models dropped about 1% to 2%  in residual value this month with the exception of newly introduced/redesigned models. Those remained the same. Strangely enough, Honda did not lower the MF on most of the cars that lost residual value. There are a few exceptions, such as the Pilot and the CrossTour, but it seems Honda is trying to capitalize on their more “fuel efficient” lineup due to higher prices as the pump.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.

2012 HONDA PILOT 4WD EX-L
MSRP – $36,980
Sale Price – $34,431

  1. Honda is waiving first month payment up to $500 on the Accord, Civic and Odyssey, so this may help to offset some of these changes.

  2. Have you noticed/do you know why TrueCar isn’t showing the dealer cost and invoice prices anymore? I feel like it just started today.

    • @adthebadstud. I just noticed that this morning. As of yesterday, they were still showing dealer invoice and factory invoice. I just sent an email to TrueCar to see if they would “explain” this decision. Assuming I get a response, I will post that information here. If I had to guess as to why this is happening, I would say that they caved under the pressure of dealers. TrueCar is really a Brokerage firm in a sense. They charge a premium for leads and expect dealers to not only pay that fee, but also guarantee rock bottom prices. The landscape is changing and I think dealers/manufacturers are not okay with having so much information shared with consumers because it cuts into their bottom line. I’m not going to dig too deep into this right now, but I will have post something regarding this once I get official word from TrueCar about their changes. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

  3. Hi,

I have a question for the residual value.

I went to the Honda dealer at northern blvd, Flushing, NY couple days ago.
They showed me from their book that the residual value for the Civic EX AT w/Nav is 60% for 12k miles/yr for 36months.

I showed them this page but I would like to know why my local dealers have different numbers?

    • @Jimmy. Glad you got that cleared up. Typically speaking, NAV and RES (rear entertainment systems) carry a lower residual value. This is common for all Acura/Honda products.
On a different note, I don’t think showing this site to a dealer helps. Their numbers are obtained from AHFC and they are the final word (assuming MF is not padded). My numbers are more “unofficial” and should only be used as reference to confirm dealer numbers. I don’t carry inventory nor can I sell you a car (at lease not right now anyway. Haahaa) so please keep that in mind when obtaining numbers through your dealer.

  4. update.

found the reason, I was looking at the civic ex with nav. it’s 2% lower residual than the civic ex.

    thanks!
