09 Mercedez-Benz Lease Rates for December 2008

My Take: You probably want to stick with the C, CLK, CLS, E (MAYBE), GL and ML classes this month. Everything else seems like it will cost you far more than you should be paying. The models previously mentioned enjoy a fairly low money factor and a decent residual value. You probably want to opt for the 12k mile leases and maybe extend the lease to 48 month. Unlike BMW, Mercedes Benz seem to lease better in the 36-month and 48-month terms. With Warranty covering up to 48 months, you should be taken cared of in case something happens to your Benzo. Now the question is, do you really want to drive the same car 4 straight years? Personally, I have leased both 36-month and 48-month leases and I find that 48 month leases just a tad “too long”. In 4 years, I tend to find way too many flaws in one car and I end up not enjoying the latter part of my lease. Of course, it if works out in the budget, 48 month isn’t too bad, just keep your miles low (lower than your contracted allowance) and you can probably end your lease in advance by trading it in, you might even get some money back.

My Take: Here’s a list of the “bad” 09 Mercedes Benz leases. If you are looking to lease any of the following cars, you may want to rethink that if you are shopping for a deal. Poor residual value and/or high money factors are never a good combination, even if you manage to get the dealer to lease the car at below invoice price. There’s just way too much interest and/or too much depreciation that even cash discounts can’t overcome, so try to avoid the following cars.

My Take: Rest of the MB line-up looks pretty bad. There is some lease support on the CLK350, but that’s about it. The rest of lineup boasts really low residual values and higher than average money factors.

My Take: Here are the rest of the lease rates for the remaining 08/09 models on the Mercedes Benz lineup. As you can see, there aren’t too many cars that look like potential deals right now. The closest thing to a deal are the 2009 CLK350 Coupe and Convertible. This time around, I’m going to go a-la-cheap and try to keep the price low, meaning no options. Let’s see what kind of deal MB has for us here.

ROFL, part of the reason why I had to go a-la-cheap with the CLK350 is because Edmunds doesn’t have additional data other than the base price without options. Oh well, it kind of worked out since I’m looking to see what would be the lowest price point for this particular car. It doesn’t look terrible, but that’s because this model is bone stock. Prices can only go north from this point on. Recommendation? PASS.

My Take: I won’t lie to you, these leases are probably not even worth inquiring about because of the extremly high MF and low residual values. Even if there were some hefty cash rebates, I don’ think it would offset these horrible rates.

My Take: In all honesty, I wouldn’t lease any of these cars. The residual values are low and the interest rates are way too high. At this price range, most people should be buying these cars. Granted, I’m not sure I would recommend buying any Mercedes Benz due to their declining quality (maybe the C-Class). There is no doubt that there is a certain “status” factor when driving around in a Benz, but is it really worth spending all that cash just to look like you are worth millions?
