2010 VW CC, Jetta, GTI, Tiguan Lease Rates – April 2010

logo_vwMy Take: Jetta numbers got a little bit worse compared to Feb/March (lucky me). CCs cash incentives are still around. Availability may vary depending on where you live. The GTI still looks pretty darn good. Tiguan Wolfsburg rates look half decent, if you opt for the AWD model.

What’s Going On – March 2010

As we approach the RIDE’s “Second Birthday”, I have some news to share with the rest of you. There’s some good news and no-so-great news, so I will just break it down to you all.

The Good

My wife is a proud new owner of a black 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg. She decided to pull the trigger toward the end of February and went ahead and rolled all inception fees in, making it a “Sign-n-Drive” deal. The damage? $0 due at signing, $359 per month ($317 before tax). The MF was 0.00089 and the residual was 57%, both very good numbers for leasing. MSRP $24065, Sale price $22946. This gets a 1.2 rating on my lease calculator, which is good, but not great. This was a fairly challenging vehicle to negotiate because Edmunds’ estimates where WAY OFF! I still managed $300 below “dealer” invoice, but the negotiation was a bit difficult when your MSRP and Invoice numbers vary dramatically from what the dealer has. Take this for instance, the Edmunds MSRP was $24,240 (about 175 higher than the actual MSRP). Then the invoice price on Edmunds was $22,931 (dealer invoice was $23203). In the end, I think we made out alright in this transaction so I don’t think we’ll be losing any sleep at night.

So what became of the Acura TSX? We still have it and my wife is racking up some miles before turning it in. Yes, there is a little bit of overlap in payments, but its fine since we still get to drive the TSX and there will be plenty of free miles later on the Jetta for us to go on road trips with. It really baffles the mind when I think about folks who roll in the last few payments on their existing car and don’t get to drive it anymore. Why? Do they realize that those payments have tax and interest in them already? And when you roll them into a new lease, you are paying interest and tax AGAIN!?! I don’t get it…

The Wall posting for the Wolfsburg to come after the car get’s it’s free detailing. I couldn’t negotiate free oil changes since VW includes all that stuff on all VWs so we got a free detail and wax.

The Not So Good

My parents are in town for the next month or two, which is great since I haven’t seen them for over year. Unfortunately, this also means that my time will be limited when it comes to the bloggingf. The good news is that I don’t plan to layoff on the lease rate search and posting. However, personalized help will probably suffer since I will have less free time (plus I’ve been getting hammered at work with some pretty big projects).

Hurray for Year Two!

For those who have stuck around and visited on and off for the past two years, I thank you! For those who actually clicked on advertising links, I thank you even more! The overall health of the site is still not too bad even though monthly revenue as dropped about 66% last month. I think this is partly attributed to my absence in January but it’s mainly because LeaseCompare has been sucking up a lot clicks away from my other ads. LOL. I’m chucking this up as the “fee” for having Tarry’s seal of approval.

Anyway, welcome to year two of RIDE with G, hope you’ve found my research and comments useful and entertaining. Stay tuned for March’s lease rates!

2010 VW Jetta, Tiguan, Passat, CC Lease Rates – February 2010

logo_vw

Update: Had a chance to visit the VW dealer today. Didn’t get much in terms of numbers since we were doing test drives. But I did manage some numbers on the CC Luxury, which was the only thing they had for CCs. I also dropped in the Tiguan Wolfsburg for those who need it. Jetta TDIs are not going to be in production this year, instead, only the Cup Edition will be available. Wife really liked the Jetta Wolfsburg and I can’t really disagree. 2.0T engine, media center, leather interior, moon roof, allow wheels, all under a MSRP of 25,000. Can’t complain there. One issue I have right now is that I am noticing dealer trying to force “dealer addons” onto the cars to make extra profit. The local Subby and VW dealer was adding security window etching for an extra $995, which provides you with “coverage” should your car is stolen. I got one word for that, “LAME”. There is no way in hell I’d spend nearly $1k for that.

My Take: I spent a lot of time today hitting the phones in order to get some numbers and I managed a few. The Tiguan is a very strong lease right now, with a $308 plus tax per month payment with inception due at signing. The assumption is that the MSRP is $26k and the sale price is invoice or around $24.6k. Sure, its not fully loaded, but it’s a cheap lease if you don’t mind me saying. There’s a possibility that the lease rates are going to change March, so keep that in mind. Now there’s a issue with availability around these parts, specially regarding the Jetta TDI and the CC Sport. I will call around other deals and provide you with an update at a later date.

2009/2010 VW Tiguan, CC, Jetta, GTI, Golf, Eos Lease Rates – October 2009

logo_vwMy Take: Took me longer than expect to wrap up all the lease rates I’ve found, bit this is the last bit. I do have numbers for the Toyota Venza, but due to the fact that not all options can be residualized (weird thing to do Toyota), the residual value is probably inaccurate. In any case, here is a collection of VWs I’ve found. As I mentioned before, my folks got a Tiguan earlier this month and they love it. I would lease one right now due to the low residual value and lack of cash. The CC is a pretty good deal right now because there are being heavily discounted right now. In any case, browse through the list and see what catches your eye. Remember that the key is the sale price. Stop negotiation payments. You have to negotiate sale prices and watch for the any fees that seem too high.

09 Volkswagen Jetta Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_vwMy Take: I’m liking the Jetta’s lease rates much better than the Accord. Sure, the Jetta isnt’ exactly in the same class as the Accord in terms of size, performance and liability, but if you don’t exactly need a car the size of the Accord, I think the Jetta would be more than adequate for hauling a family of four. A fully loaded Jetta SE should run you about the same as an Accord EX-L V6, but as a lease, it will probably be much cheaper. Assuming MSRP and Sale Price between the Accord and Jetta are the same, the Jetta would be about $44 cheaper per month, or $1584 over the life of the lease.

Volkswagen is currently providing a $750 cash incentive on leases of 2009 Jetta Sedans with automatic transmissions and $1,250 on leases of Jetta Sedans with manual transmissions through VW Credit (Even more reason to lease a Jetta right now). This cash is not available on TDI models.

09 VW Jetta Lease Rates for February 2009

My Take: Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day! I’ve been out all day shopping for a cellphone for the missus so it’s been a busy day. I also spend a good chunk of time browsing at Circuit City for heavily discounted crap since they are going out of business. I’m disappointed to report that some of their stuff is still fairly expensive. Now their CDs, DVDs, Video Games & Accessories are like 40% off so don’t miss that! Anyway, back to leasing news!!! Solid residual and decent money factor makes the Jetta Wolfsburg a good choice for a compact sedan (This thing has the same 2.0T engine found on the Audi A4, VW CC, TT, A3 and VW GTI to name a few). Sale prices should be around invoice plus there’s $500 customer cash available. Remember not to exceed past the 36-month lease since VW warranties only last up to 3 years.
