2010/11 Honda Lease Rates – July 2010

logo_hondaUpdate: Accords got a dropped across the board in residual value by about 2% compared to June. The money factor also dropped to compensate. I believe there is some cash available to help lower the payments further. Solid ride, duarable, plenty of space. I wouldn’t get one, but that’s a personal thing. I find Accords don’t fit my “fun-to-drive, great to look at” requirement. It does fit the “great lease program, practical” requirement though.

Civics dropped in residual and the MF stayed the same. Not good, but there is cash available until September.

CRV residual drops 1% but MF drops significantly from last month. Good stuff.

Don’t have much of a comment regarding the Pilot. MF too high and Res is too low for me to care.

2010/2011 Honda Lease Rates – May 2010

logo_hondaMy Take: Some of the lease incentives are still in place for the month of May so make sure you factor that into your calculations. I think there are some good deals to be had here, so call your dealer and get a sale price quote and crunch your own numbers to see if it comes close to theirs. My sister is looking to lease a family hauler, so I might recommend the Odyssey to her since the numbers look pretty good and there is $1500 in cash available.

2010 Honda Accord, Civic, Insight, Pilot Lease Rates – December 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: Here’s a little flood of Honda lease rates. Couple of things stand out here for me; The low MF and high RV of the Accord and Insight. Back up a few months ago, the Insight’s MF where in the 0.00200+ range or 4.8% APR and up. Not so this month. The Insight is a poor-man’s(or woman’s) Prius, in my opinion. That’s not to say its bad, it’s just less techy that the Prius. From a financing perspective, I think this is a  really cheap car. Based on my estimates, if you can get invoice on it (doubtful but always worth a try), you can get a EX with Navi for 36m/12k for around $260 per month, with your inception fees due at signing. Tack on taxes and roll in the bank fee and you are looking at low $300s. You know, I am tempted to just get one and let the wife go crazy with it. She’ll probably appreciate not having to pay $40+ per week on gas.

2010 Honda CR-V, Pilot Lease Rates – November 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: CR-V lease rates don’t look too bad right now. The MF has come down quite a bit over the last couple months. Residual still stronger than most models, making this a good crossover SUV to jump into. As for the Pilot, I think they could do better on the money factor.

09 Honda Pilot Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: There is $1500 in cash to dealer that is set to expire 6/30/09. If you want a Pilot right now, be sure to take that cash into consideration. Again, I’d like to remind you that DEALER CASH is not the same as CUSTOMER CASH. When it comes to CUSTOMER CASH, you are entitled to it, as for the DEALER CASH, that’s pretty much at dealer discretion. I often get questions regarding whether I can confirm the DEALER CASH, the reality is that I can’t. If the dealer needs to make the sale, they’ll tap into it. I usually advice that you take it into consideration when negotiating with your dealer, not by asking him/her for it directly, but by including it in your offer price. As far as the Pilot’s lease is concerned, the “Nav/RES” packages really drop the residual signinficantly so be careful with that. The Pilot may be a decent lease-to-buy because the financing APR isn’t very low (5.99% for 60 months). If you were to lease-to-buy a Touring model with Nav and RES for example, you would pay 3.624% on 55% of the car and then you would either payoff the remainder in a balloon payment or finance the rest (hopefully at an interest rate lower than 5.99%). If you manage to get an APR lower than 5.99% for the remaining 45% of the car’s value, you’ll probably save yourself a decent chunk of change.

09 Honda Accord, Pilot Lease Rates – March 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: Edmunds suggests a sale price of a few hundred under invoice on the Accord EX-L V6. There is $1000 dealer cash on this Accord, so I think you should get more than “just” a few hundred off invoice. If you manage that, you would be looking at $351 + tax on a 36-month/15k mile lease instead of $381 per month (assuming you pay all inception fees at signing).

The Pilot suffers from weak residual values, so you should consider buying it out at lease end (since you would have paid more than half of the car off already). If you don’t, its okay too. Honda has one of the best lease programs out there, so as long as you keep you miles within your contract and treat it well, you can return it without any penalties. There is $1500 dealer cash on the 4WD EX model, so be sure to factor that into your negotiations.

09 Honda Pilot Lease Rates for January 2009

My Take: Edmund’s TMV suggests the Pilot can be had for around $776 under invoice price (on the EX AWD model), I am willing to bet that that number also applies to the other trims as well (there is around $1500 dealer cash available). This is probably the one and only reason why I didn’t put this SUV into the DO NOT LEASE list. The residual value is quite terrible, but the MF is decent, allowing this SUV to make the cut. Keep in mind I didn’t factor in the dealer cash on my calculations, which means you can probably go lower than my lower calculated price. If you don’t need 15k miles per year (I normally don’t), you can get a 2% residual increase, shaving off another $15-$20 off your monthly payment on your 36-month lease. Good stuff huh?
