2010/11 Volkswagen Lease Rates – August 2010

logo_vwMy Take: As expect, 2010 residual are down right nasty at this point of the year. VW Credit has taken the step to drop the MF so low, it’s practically interest free. On top of that, they even give customers cash to move these “soon-to-be-used” cars. My guess is that there’s a lot of inventory right now and they really want to move it. I say, HECK YEAH! I haven’t crunched the numbers yet, but I get the feeling that some of these models might make this month’s Round-Up.

2010 Volkswagen Lease Rates – May 2010

logo_vwMy Take: Numbers looks pretty much the same as last month. I expect these numbers to remain the same between now and beginning of June. Next month’s numbers will probably see another drop in residual, but my guess is VW will throw more cash at the leases or drop the MF on most models. Not sure what VW will do with the CC. The residuals are down right nasty, but they keep throwing money at it so the lease looks great still. Remember that if your existing lease is about to expire, you might want to weigh the pros and cons of pulling off a deal early (t0 take advantage of any incentives that may disappear later). Sometimes, it might make financial sense to do that.

logo_vwMy Take: Jetta numbers got a little bit worse compared to Feb/March (lucky me). CCs cash incentives are still around. Availability may vary depending on where you live. The GTI still looks pretty darn good. Tiguan Wolfsburg rates look half decent, if you opt for the AWD model.

2010 VW Jetta, Tiguan, Passat, CC Lease Rates – February 2010

logo_vw

Update: Had a chance to visit the VW dealer today. Didn’t get much in terms of numbers since we were doing test drives. But I did manage some numbers on the CC Luxury, which was the only thing they had for CCs. I also dropped in the Tiguan Wolfsburg for those who need it. Jetta TDIs are not going to be in production this year, instead, only the Cup Edition will be available. Wife really liked the Jetta Wolfsburg and I can’t really disagree. 2.0T engine, media center, leather interior, moon roof, allow wheels, all under a MSRP of 25,000. Can’t complain there. One issue I have right now is that I am noticing dealer trying to force “dealer addons” onto the cars to make extra profit. The local Subby and VW dealer was adding security window etching for an extra $995, which provides you with “coverage” should your car is stolen. I got one word for that, “LAME”. There is no way in hell I’d spend nearly $1k for that.

My Take: I spent a lot of time today hitting the phones in order to get some numbers and I managed a few. The Tiguan is a very strong lease right now, with a $308 plus tax per month payment with inception due at signing. The assumption is that the MSRP is $26k and the sale price is invoice or around $24.6k. Sure, its not fully loaded, but it’s a cheap lease if you don’t mind me saying. There’s a possibility that the lease rates are going to change March, so keep that in mind. Now there’s a issue with availability around these parts, specially regarding the Jetta TDI and the CC Sport. I will call around other deals and provide you with an update at a later date.

2009/2010 VW Tiguan, CC, Jetta, GTI, Golf, Eos Lease Rates – October 2009

logo_vwMy Take: Took me longer than expect to wrap up all the lease rates I’ve found, bit this is the last bit. I do have numbers for the Toyota Venza, but due to the fact that not all options can be residualized (weird thing to do Toyota), the residual value is probably inaccurate. In any case, here is a collection of VWs I’ve found. As I mentioned before, my folks got a Tiguan earlier this month and they love it. I would lease one right now due to the low residual value and lack of cash. The CC is a pretty good deal right now because there are being heavily discounted right now. In any case, browse through the list and see what catches your eye. Remember that the key is the sale price. Stop negotiation payments. You have to negotiate sale prices and watch for the any fees that seem too high.

09 VW Tiguan Lease Rates for February 2009

My Take: The “special” financing rates for the Tiguan aren’t really that special to be honest with you (5.9% for 60 months). Leasing might be the better alternative for this month since the money factor (3.1%) is lower than the lowest loan APR available (3.9%). There is a $1000 rebate from the mfg direct to the customers and another $500 in loyalty cash. Both of them available for leasing, so be sure to take that into consideration when you do your negotiations. The residual value is a bit low, but I think the cash does a good job offsetting that. Remember that non-luxury brand’s warranties usually go up to 36 months (with a few exceptions of course), so don’t lease past that term.

DO NOT LEASE

Nothing here. Although I’m very tempted to move the Tiguan into the “do not lease” list just because of the lame residual values.

November 2008 Lease Rates for 09 VW Routan and Tiguan

My Take: VW’s brand new Minivan (Routan) has a fairly attractive leasing offer right now. There aren’t any cash rebates, but the residual and money factor is fairly attractive. Remember that you can save yourself anywhere from $20-$30 per month if you opt for the 12k mile term instead of the 15k mile term. That will boost your residual value about 2%. The Tiguan continues to have fairly low money factors and high residual value this month so it is a good alternative if you are looking to lease something with decent cargo room. There is “special” financing available starting at 3.9% for 36 months and so on. The longer the term, the higher the percentage.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 VW Tiguan

My Take: Tiggy is looks pretty good this month. The MF is not bad at all (around 3.24%) and the residual is good, making the depreciation fairly low. The uncool part is that the “middle of the road” SE 4motion starts at a whopping 29k. The good news is that there isn’t too much more you can add to the Tiguan at that point, maybe a $1300 pano sunroof and/or a $2000 navi. Which should set you back another $50 bucks or so. Nothing you can’t live without.
