2011-2012 Infiniti Lease Rates – July 2011

IFS drop the residual values for many of their 2011 models this month. To compensate, money factors were also decreased. On average, the residual drop has been about 2%, which isn’t too bad. The bad news is that the EX got smacked with a whopping 4% drop in residual value. What IFS didn’t do was drop the MF enough to offset that loss due to depreciation. What IFS did do was throw two cash rebates at the car ($500 and $2000) to sweeten the lease. One is loyalty lease cash ($500) and the other is dealer cash ($2000) which can be used on a lease. For most non-IFS customers only the dealer cash will apply.

$3500 cash incentive is for any remaining 2010 model. $1000 is available for 2011 models. Calculations below should still apply.

1.9% financing is available for all 2011 Infiniti models for those of you looking to buy instead. G sedans and coupe only get about $1000 in incentives.

If you have been using May numbers to calculate your lease estimates, your estimates should still work this month. These aren’t the best numbers of the year, but that’s mainly due to lower residuals and the residual effect of the tsunami/earthquake in Japan. I do not expect availability to improve until at least September. To be honest, I think it might be more like Dec 2011/Jan 2012. Nevertheless, Infiniti is still one of the best luxury brands to lease from right now because their payments are very affordable (for a luxury brand).

If you notice below, sale prices have gone up a bit (due to limited availability) compared to last month. The longer you wait, the more expensive it’s probably going to get.

Infiniti leases are becoming more and more expensive. Like any Japanese automaker, their production is being affected by the tsunami, so sale prices and money factors have gone up. Then, you factor in lower residual values and you get higher monthly payments. But I wouldn’t let this discourage you because Infinitis still leases better than most cars.

As expected, Japan’s unfortunate disaster has begun hitting our pocketbooks this month. Glancing over this month’s lease rates, I am noticing higher money factors on practically every model. To make matters worse, the MSRP seems to have increased as well. The good news is that some of the rebates are still available, such as the $1000 loyalty cash on the G37 Journey Sedan (plus you have $1000 dealer cash you can try tap into). I believe the 4-month pull ahead program is still in effect (I haven’t been told otherwise), so if you have an existing Infiniti lease and want another one, you can probably take advantage of that (it should come with a $500 wear-n-tear credit). Compared to last month, you will be paying about $1000 more over the course of the loan ($30 per month) on a G37 Journey Sedan. Sample calculations are broken down below. No, it is not a typo. As expected, Infiniti residuals have pretty much dropped across the board. The good news is that IFS did adjust the money factors to keep the payments at around the same range as last month. Not how the G25 is looking like the more expensive lease compared to the G37 Journey sedan. I suspect this is going to make leasing a 25 or a 37 a tough decision. Haahaa. Anyway, there are rebates available so be sure to ask your dealer about them.

Almost the entire Infiniti line-up leases well, so if you aren’t looking at the Gs, the Ms, FXs and EXs aren’t too terrible either.

Update! Last week, I got an email from VC (a long time reader of this blog) and here’s the deal he got on a G37…

The MF was .00147(regular) and i put 9msd(max of .0001) reduction…..bringing a total of [.00147-.0009) = a reduced MF of .00057 Each deposit was $400(x9) = 3600.

Essentially I put 3600 due(100% refundable)…..plus $1180(registration…aqq fee…dealer fee)…plus another 1000(infiniti owner loyalty rebate). for a total of $ $5800 due upfront.

So essentially only $1180 due, since 1k is rebate, and the 3600 is completely refunded.

They took close to 5k off msrp, plus another 1k(infiniti owner loyalty bonus cash…used towards cap-cost reduction).

so with about 1180 due, plus the MSD. i got the payment to be $280 a month!!! i got this one fully loaded too. navi, premium, spoiler, etc.

msrp was 46,800. January had a $500 detroit auto show bonus cash, so that helped too. make sure you let people know, the G37x coupe is great deal, ESPECIALLY on 24month lease right now.

Wondering if February rates are still the same? They are! IFS carried over their lease rates from January into February, with the exception of the G37 Convertible Sport, that one gets a 3% bump in residual and a 0.00001 increase in the MF. Despite this “good news”, I am expecting IFS to modify their rates in March. It is rare that lease rates remain the same for more than two months, so if you like these numbers, make sure you cut a deal this month.

I think the G37 Journey gives you more bang for the buck, but if you don’t need the extra power, go with the G25.

Did you know that Infinitis are the second most popular leases on this website? Not surprising since they boast one of the best “bang-for-the buck” leases around. Like the 2010 model, this year G37 Sport Coupe MT has one of the best balances between residual value and money factor. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of TrueCar sales data to get a good idea of what the sale price will be. However, I am willing to bet that it remains a strong lease regardless. The G25 is also a great lease right now if you don’t need the power (and gas consumption) of the G37.

logo_infinitiMy Take: I am not going to deal with the EX35 payments for now since I have only seen the rates for the BASE model, which are probably sold by now. Instead, I will focus on the FX35 AWD on this post. The effective interest rate for the FX35 AWD for 36-months sits at around 1.752% while the 48-month rate is at 2.016%. The BEST interest rate for a purchase loan being offered by IFS right now is 0.9% for up to 36-month and 2.9% from then on (up to 72 months). Seeing how residuals are somewhat low, I would flag this car as a Lease-To-Buy candidate. Not as good as the Mercedes have been these past few months, but close enough. There is about $4000 dealer cash available, but they won’t even let you use it on the special financing, so I would not be surprised to if they refuse to use it on leases. Before you ask if you used it for leases, I have one thing to say about that…”doesn’t matter”.
